To be honest, I've never been one of the people who rush to publicly defend Knight. If anything, I've been critical if him over things like the sacking of Dean Wilkins and the way Dean Hammond appeared to have been dealt with in that his contract was allowed to run down.
I would like to think that blog has a fair bit of balance to it.
Right now I wouldn't consider myself either pro or anti either Bloom or Knight. I just think people shouldn't make rush judgement based on reading the most sensational extracts.
I think both are Albion legends. My overwhelming...
For anyone interested, I did a blog HERE with comments from Dick Knight regarding his reasons for asking to hear whether or not fans are interested in potentially buying share.
Apologies to people getting Knight/Bloom/Share fatigue... The Derek Chapman thread seems to have descended into a...
Wonderfully, I've looked through some of the old newspapers cuttings I got last week and it includes a four-page pull-out from before the Tigers' last game. Will get that scanned in first later in the week.
I wasn't passing comment on the nature of the extracts or their usefulness in selling copies of it. Just that I think once supporters read the entire book they will perhaps be less polarised than many appear from having just read the extracts.
I agree, of course he has a brilliant position from which to comment on the goings on at the time. But Chapman does himself refer to making observations on the book's content.
Perhaps I didn't word it quite right. I meant it would perhaps be more useful and interesting for supporters if he had...
Quotes from Derek Chapman's comment piece:
"I think I’m well placed to make a few observations on the book’s content."
"Anyway, I do wish Dick good luck with his book. Like most lifelong Albion fans, I’m sure I will buy a copy!"
So it sounds like he hasn't read it then. Just the sensational...
At no point in the book did I read Dick Knight accusing Derek Chapman of profiting on any Albion-linked projects.
Not sure who that part of The Argus story is aimed at. Certainly not Dick Knight. Although, of course, having admitted to not actually reading the book, Chapman might have his wires...
Dick Knight got £400,000 back (and left with some shares) from the £2million he invested which helped save the club.
Bill Archer got around £700,000 for nearly killing it.
Far too simplistic I appreciated, but I don't think Dick Knight is unreasonable in expecting some of his money back.
I...
In the book Dick Knight makes it clear it wasn't just about getting HIS cash back. He was keen to make sure a lot of the investors who perhaps could not really afford to just write the cash off but had helped prop up the Albion when they needed it were looked after.
Maybe some directors could afford to write off their cash more than Dick Knight could. I don't see how Knight can be criticised for wanting some of the £2million he put in from his own pocket back. Maybe he should have been happy with being allowed in the directors' box on match days and being...
Enjoyed the Sergio Tacchini revival a couple of years back (although it has gone a bit Sports Direct now) and still a fan of the Fila knitwear you can find rather than the sportswear.
Gabicci is consistently coming up with some lovely pieces and Farah enjoying a resurgence over the last 12...
"Dick would still enjoy boardroom hospitality, would continue to watch games from the directors’ box with his family, and he would still be invited to all club events.
"But what amazed me was that Dick also asked for money."
Why shouldn't Dick Knight expect some of his £2million back?
I've read most of the book. It does not read as the ranting of a bitter man. Not at all.
It's one man's account of things. It's therefore bound to have his opinions etc. Not quite sure why people expect otherwise. I don't sympathise with every point he makes. I doubt he'd expect everyone to.
I...
