[Finance] ******** The Scam Thread *********

There is a scam doing the rounds in the UK. You order a download of a household manual for a small amount, a couple of quid, which is legitimate, and then you get billed an amount of 24.90 every month from a company called helpandmanuals.com

[Misc] What Book are you Currently Reading?

Tudor - The Family Story Very engrossing book and reminds me what an incredible history England has. Life could be very short and violent, but it was full of danger, passion and turbulence and life was lived to the fullest.

[Football] Crystal Palace appoint Patrick Vieira as their new manager

I hope he fails and I know MLS is regarded with utter contempt by some on here, but he did a pretty good job at NYCFC which was the first club he managed. He got them to second in the Eastern Conference in both his seasons there...

[Other Sport] MLB Season 2021 kicks off today

After a great result from England the weekend keeps getting better with the Yankees beaten 8-3 by the Mets in Round 1 of the Subway Series

    Trump

He was, putting a 78 year old in charge is never a good move, a lot of people were disappointed that with the population of America it came down to Biden as the only alternative choice. The American system is as broken as the UKs. He is really enjoying a honeymoon period at the minute, will be...

[Football] Is anyone else embarrassed by the booing of the German national anthem

At least the English national anthem is only played at international sporting fixtures whereas the US national anthem is played before every bloody sporting fixture including those at high schools. It used to wind me up having to sit through this at every New York Red Bulls football game I went...

[Drinking] Brewdog: hipsters”, “pretentious”, “wankers”, “********s” or simply "full of s**t"?

Williamsburg in Brooklyn is full of pretentious hipsters drinking their artisanal triple hopped IPAs.

Always looks like he should be in charge of a focus group in an IT department rather than a football manager

One of the best quotes in Blazing Saddles "They said you was hung" "And they was right"

    [Film] Mel Brooks 95 today

It may not have been as well known as some of his other movies but I really enjoyed High Anxiety. It was a very affectionate send up of some of the great Hitchcock movies and very funny. Cloris Leachman, Madeline Kahn and Harvey Korman were on top form.

    [Film] Mel Brooks 95 today

I like this video he did last year taking a pop at Donald Trump for his shambolic handling of Covid "And when you're dead you can't do much"

    [Film] Mel Brooks 95 today

Great to see that one of the greatest film directors is still going strong. Madeline Kahn, Gene Wilder and Marty Feldman have all sadly died but their legacy lives on. The world needs people like Mel more than ever...

[News] UFO Report: US Finds No Explanation For Sightings

No religious beliefs but definitely open to the possibility of other life forms. I remember watching Carl Sagan's Pale Blue Dot and seeing how utterly insignificant this planet was in the grand cosmic scheme but thinking there has to be something else out there. Then you also think is this just...
