History is repeating itself with Kane’s constant inclusion. We did much the same with Rooney at major tournaments, playing him again and again even though the end product simply wasn’t there after 2006. I find England very hard to love, as we always seem to have too many sacred cows blocking a route to the team for form players.

Should it be revealed post tournament that Kane had carried a debilitating injury throughout, which wouldn’t surprise me, that would be annoying to say the least. In the 3.5 games so far, we’ve been playing with 9 outfield players.
