I remember going to see "Blazing Saddles" at a cinema in Norwich, and after about 30 mins the lady in front of us , and her husband, just got up and left in a huff.

Blazing Saddles and Spaceballs are two of my favourite films. I remember my Dad letting me stay up late to watch Blazing Saddles on TV when we were on holiday in the late 80's, I must have been in my early teens and absolutely loved it. Pleased to see its available to download on Sky Movies, so thats my evening viewing sorted after the football.

The Producers (the original) is still one of the funniest movies of all time. Whilst Blazing Saddles looks a little racist now, it was an anti racist masterpiece in 1974 and I enjoyed watching it again only last week.

In the same way as Till Death us do part, Blazing Saddles is an anti racism picture which is totally lost on some people.

Brooks is a genius.

I was reading something about 'Blazing Saddles' recently and it turns out that when it was first shown on television in the states they edited it to meet network broadcast standards. The only change they made was to remove the farting sounds from the campfire scene. There was some subsequent correspondence between Brooks and the TV executives with him explaining that the farts were funny and essential to the scene and them countering with no, they're revolting and have no place in entertainment. I'll try and find it, it's gold.
