Quite a few saw this coming due to the totally incompetent and complacent recruitment. We're at the point where it probably won't even be a relegation scrap unless those responsible are replaced and Hyppia is put out of...
Would probably be a disaster but would love to see how he'd deal with Burke, his reactions to Barber's corporate spiel and how certain players would react to his tough love approach.
Agreed 100%. Barbers ruffled some feathers but has done his side of the job by enabling a record playing budget that has been squandered by Burke. Based on previous, I just cannot see Burke suddenly developing the ability to wisely invest his budget while aligning spend with a managers wishes...
Dumping Hyppia will relieve some symptoms but removing Burke from directing first team recruitment is vital ahead of January. I think we are now at the stage that our only hope is Tony swallows his pride, admits the obvious failings of Burke and Hyppia and hires a strong, experienced manager who...
Hyppia is totally out of his depth but for me it would be Burke. His handling of first team recruitment has been appalling. He will do far more damage in the long run.
So depressing to watch. Burke and Hyppia both have to go. Get in a proper DOF with management experience (Coppell) and an experienced championship manager (McDermott).
He's 100% right. Having to bring in 8 players during the summer was a huge risk - especially with Burke at the helm and Bloom admitting diligence was rushed. Add in 7 loans and it's very similar to when the Wilkins team was dismantled during Mickys second stint.
For me, he's failed to recognise that David Burke has overseen a consistent and severe dip in squad quality and it's possible this stubborn backing is down to wanting to prove Gus wrong. Both Burke and Hyppia are totally out of their depth. Coppell and McDermott remain the obvious solution.
