[Albion] Alexis Mac Allister - *** New Contract Until 2025 ***

I LOVE Ally Mac. Such an al round great guy and magnificent footballer. It's goin to hurt seeing him play for another club.

[Albion] Your favourite former manager of the Amex era

Hughton. Kept us in the championship, then two incredible seasons culminating in promotion to the premier league, kept us there comfortably the following season and even in the year it unraveled he still got us to only our second ever f.a cup semi final and did keep us up just about. Plus he...

[Albion] Chelsea Fire Sale - who could we go for?

Azpilicueta and Aubamayang I'd guess they'd release for free. Mount will go for in the region of 50m I reckon. Kovicic and Pulisic 20-25m each and Loftus-cheek 15ish. Ziyech would go for a similar fee to Kovicic and Pulisic. Koulibaly I agree would go for a minimal fee if anything. All my...

[Albion] Chelsea Fire Sale - who could we go for?

According to transfermarkt these are the players whose contracts run out in 2024: Mount, Kovacic, Pulisic, Loftus-cheek, Azpilicueta, Aubamayang and Silva. You've got to imagine that most of those will be gone. The only one I'd be confident they'll still be there next season is Silva. The...

    [Albion] Oh Alexis...

Yes, I don't disagree with what you're saying. My only point is that in the hypothetical situation of signing (a peak) Bissouma it wouldn't be a backwards step. That's all.
  6. Garry Nelson's Left Foot

    [Albion] Oh Alexis...

Yes, if. Hence the only regular teenager is Ferguson. Most other players take time. I'm sure several of those youngsters will come (very)good and they'll be a joy to watch. I'm less sure it'll be from August 2023 when 'good enough' is being compared to Ally Mac and in this hypothetical case...

  8. Garry Nelson's Left Foot

    [Albion] Oh Alexis...

I think all those you mention are still 12-18 months away from being ready to be first team regulars(the exception being Moder - for him it is all about how quickly/well he returns to full form after his injury), much like Ally Mac was after his first year with us. They'll need their playing...
  9. Garry Nelson's Left Foot

    [Albion] Oh Alexis...

I should point out I'm thinking of Biss teaming up in the midfield two with Caicedo - the position that I think is Ally Mac's strongest, not in the '10' role that he has been deployed in since Lallana's injury. With that in mind who are the replacements that we have in house? I can only think...
  10. Garry Nelson's Left Foot

    [Albion] Oh Alexis...

I agree. I think there is very little chance he'd come back unless he was forced out the door. I was just querying the claim that signing Biss would be a step backwards. He was absolute quality for us.
  11. Garry Nelson's Left Foot

    [Albion] Oh Alexis...

Backwards? Peak Brighton Bissouma is not a step backwards. Admittedly Spurs Bissouma is. Spurs Bissouma isn't even good enough to be a shadow of Brighton Bissouma. :( Not that it matters as it's unlikely we'll be re-signing him. Still, him and Caicedo as the two would be close to unbeatable.

[Football] Unai Emery new Aston Villa manager

He's doing an excellent job isn't he? I was fairly confident he'd do well but didn't think he'd do this well this quickly. It's quite annoying really as I find Villa quite an objectionable team. They've got some good financial backing too don't they? So we can expect them to spend big in...

[Albion] Julio Enciso - Paraguay’s new wonder kid (Signed 17/06/2022)

This screen shot of Enciso celebrating under the banner 'Born is the king' seems quite appropriate.

[Albion] Frank Lampard’s Chelsea vs Brighton & Hove Albion *** Official Match Thread ***

Absolutely deserved. A fantastic team performance with a number of outstanding individual displays too, from Sanchez's double save and 70yard pings through to Welbeck and Ferguson running their centre halves ragged. Hopefully the injuries aren't too bad and we can play like that with a full...

[Albion] Frank Lampard’s Chelsea vs Brighton & Hove Albion *** Official Match Thread ***

Performance wise that was an excellent half, the only critique being we only scored once. The major downside is the injuries to Veltman and Ferguson. Hopefully they're only minor and they'll be available for the semi final.

[Albion] Frank Lampard’s Chelsea vs Brighton & Hove Albion *** Official Match Thread ***

Remember when we beat Liverpool 1-0 at anfield during the covid season and in the last minute of injury time Sanchez came through a crowd of players to catch a corner on the penalty spot? I hope that Sanchez plays today. That Sanchez is a world beater.

    [Albion] Premier League 15-17/4/23

Villa are mostly a horrible team. Unfortunately they're also pretty good. They can win by shithousing and by being decent. It's a bad(or good - depending on your view of Villa) combination. I'll be gutted if we missed out on Europe to them.

[Albion] Players We Were Forced to Sell Off Cheaply For Financial Reasons. Could We Field A Team Of Them?

Oh undeniably he was sold to keep the club afloat. A matter of minutes or hours before we faced a winding up order I believe. My point was more that the title says players we sold on the cheap for financial reasons. I'm not sure if his price counts as on the cheap, that's all.
  19. Garry Nelson's Left Foot

    [Albion] Jakub Moder

Does anyone know/remember where Moder's best position is? I've got him as an advanced midfielder/winger in my head - so one of the 3 in De Zerbi's 4-2-3-1. Is that right? Can he play deeper as part of the two? I have a memory like a sieve. I remember liking him and him getting into good...

[Albion] Players We Were Forced to Sell Off Cheaply For Financial Reasons. Could We Field A Team Of Them?

I thought we got 325k or thereabouts for Beeney? In 1993. That was a load of money for a third tier player back then so I'm not sure he fits the o.p's criteria. Although he was undeniably sold for financial reasons. I reckon the sale of Byrne fits the bill on both cheap and financial reasons...
