Some of the best gigs I've been to (in 40 years of gig-going) have been in the last 5 years - Killing Joke, Suede and Lee 'Scratch' Perry (RIP) at a three-day rock festival at Butlins, Bognor; Psychedelic Furs at Camden Roundhouse; Half Man Half Biscuit in Bristol a week before the first Covid...
Saw them about 18 times (and the latest Baz Warne version about 8 times - still excellent), the first time on the 'No More Heroes' tour when they played the Top Rank Suite. Often brilliant, with Hugh Cornwell's snarled vocals and dead-pan in-between song banter, Jean-Jacques Burnel's...
My first ever gig was Hawkwind at Worthing Assembly Hall, although sadly, no Stacia!
And 'Space Ritual' remains my favourite live album; still listen to it regularly
Sadly, though, there are still huge double-standards in Britain today, which means sneering at the less well-off and blaming the poor for their poverty (rather than the employers or companies which pay poverty wages), while drooling over the mega-rich.

But if he does score double-figures, will it give him a confidence-boost and appreciation that he's been given a...
Interesting reading the comments on the 'Boro fans forum, where opinion is already divided between the "Give him a chance if Brighton won't" contingent, and those saying "He's trouble, we don't need someone like this." This poster seems pretty astute.
And...
Jaz Coleman (General loon - in the nicest possible way) and 'Geordie' Walker (criminally underrated genius guitarist)
Nigel Blackwell (genius lyricist)
Nick Cave (Musical genius)
Most of the above applies to me too; Saturday-to-yesterday sniffles, sneezes, sore throat and a dry cough, having tested positive on Sunday. Also slept like a log the last 3 nights. Today, the symptoms have virtually gone, apart from feeling a bit tired still.
Counting my blessings.
Me and Mrs Peteinblack have both tested positive this week, but having been double-vaxxed and recently 'boosted', our symptoms are just like a common cold, plus generally feeling tired.
Given what a lot of people have suffered over the last 20 months, we feel very fortunate to have got away so...
