Several on here saying that they cocked up because they have virtually zero immunity but I never bought that and seen no real evidence to support the argument. Nor do I but the argument that their economy will tank (any more than elsewhere) because of quarantine.
Tourism aside they can get...
It's unpredictable at the best of times ..... my success rate in the regular season is little better than 50% so I'm hoping the unpredictable nature of the remaining games means I will improve!
I'm losing the plot ... on worldometer the deaths are increasing, albeit slowly.
If NHS are saying 41% of deaths go back as far as a week then by the same token don't we need to wait a week to see what today's deaths have been?
Totally counter intuitive. As OP says we gaily let all flights in from Milan until we were overwhelmed and now we're shutting down when the rest of the world is opening up on a selective (air bridge) basis. I can't even begin to think how they come up with this stuff
Butch Cassidy
Dances with Wolves
Good, Bad and Ugly
and even though it isn't I'll add it as it was brilliant and sounds like it might be on topic
Midnight Cowboy
I'm not so sure .... the major variable there could well be the number of tests vs the number of cases. I really don't know but given it's something widely referred to you would think there would be some explanation. Here is the Beeb's helpful (sic) effort under a heading 'How is the R number...
Not so sure it's hospital admissions given that many never make it to hospital.
No matter, I was just curious seeing as so much is made of it, but I get the sense it's little more than a guesstimate. No doubt someone will correct me
Is the R number a calculation, and if so what is it? Or is it inference based on .... well something like "We're seeing less new cases now so let's drop it by 0.4%"
I accept the point about lesser (and particularly) no known conditions. I'd also add those in the front line NHS.
But, I think we have to try to return to some disciplined normality and my principal issue is probably similar to yours, that is there are some/many that just don't give a toss...
I understand your angst and although I am not in as difficult position as your family I am also now considered 'vulnerable' and unfortunately I think the onus is on us. Yes, these people are potentially putting our well being at risk but I think it's up to us to ensure we take all the...
No and probably won't even when our inept leadership tell me it's OK to do so. Despite being fighting fit (ish) I've discovered my immune system is bolloxed so I doubt I'll be back at the Amex even when I'm told I can be.
Unsure what that means for my ST, which I pay for in advance
Much depends on if we start this new part season the way we started the actual season or we carry on from where we left.
If I recall correctly we gave up a lot of the early season promise in an effort to carve out a point here or there. With the upcoming fixtures I can't see that changing nor...
I agree, nothing to do with hindsight. 'Everyone' was questioning the sense in letting those events go ahead, as indeed most were questioning why flights in and out of Milan were operating normally for several weeks after their outbreak.
I really hope lessons have been learned but I can't say...
Yes of course I do but I don't know that that they need to close their doors to tourism, just be 'selective' and employ (as best they can) the proper checks. I would hope that we do the same ... regardless of some of the assumptions thrown around I haven't seen any where suggesting that we have...
You said it before and I corrected you. NZ does not rely on tourism .. indeed a lower proportion of it's GDP comes from tourism than ours so they will not be 'completely ******* economically'
Nor do I buy into the fact that they are any more susceptible than us ...and obviously their leadership...
