Staggering to think that: Brighton Pav has been a Tory seat most of its history - now, they'll be lucky to finish third. Quite incredible transformation.
I had a similar experience with Proust in the south of France. A week on my own and I read about two-thirds of A la recherche du temps perdu. Holidays on your own are a great way to get through lots of reading.
As for Ulysses, I read it was 18 and most of it went over my head, I read it again...
Interestingly we've had the complete opposite. Leaflets from Labour every couple of days, just one from the Greens and one from the Tories. We've also had a visit from several canvassers, including Tom himself. No canvassers from any other party.
Sunak has nothing to do with the way he has transformed the Labour party. To put it in context: Militant was proscribed as an organisation within an organisation in 1982, it wasn't until 1991 that the last of the members was expelled. Starmer took about three years to kick out the Corbynistas...
It should be stressed that this wasn't a privilege for KS, all pupils who were there at the time were similarly supported. I have a work colleague who was there at Reigate Grammar at the time and benefited from this - as did one Fatboy Slim.
Several people have commented on Starmer being weak. I'm curious to know where this idea has come from. I can't say I'm a big fan of everything he's done but I can't argue with his story. The fella comes from an ordinary background (OK, he's piled on the toolmaker a bit thick but he's still not...

Evening classes are a good idea though. You get used to speaking the language and if you're asked a question, you have to react in real time. I started German evening classes hardly knowing a word of German and within a few years, I was able to...
The polling companies say that they have adjusted their methodologies to account for 'shy Tories'; whether they're accounting for 'shy Reform voters' remains to be seen.
BTW, the pollsters for Trump v Clinton didn't get wrong: virtually all of them said that Clinton would win the popular vote...
I've not had any problems with loading NSC, nor have I found the ads to be intrusive than usual. They're a bit weird and completely unconnected with my browsing habits, but that's always been the case with NSC.
Indeed. The received wisdom was that the Conservative party had sex scandals and the Labour party had financial ones. However, the Tories seem to be going all out to embrace any sort of scandal right now, they're not particular.
I can see owners voting for all sort of mad shit but I can't see them voting for no relegation. There's no way that they could vote for something to happen immediately (I think the reduction from 22 to 20 was on two years notice) and there'd have to be 14 clubs who would think they're totally...
When we were looking to move to Brighton, our shortlist came down to two houses: one in Coldean, one in Portslade. I'd guessed I'd made the right choice when I can walk to the Albion in 25 minutes but reading this thread absolutely confirms it ... what an escape.
Tories won't do anything about it because it's not a vote winner for them - they're shoo-ins for Arundel so it won't make any difference to their electoral chances. And Labour won't do anything because why should they help the Tories?
Brighton by-pass got built because B&H seats were in play...
This was discussed a few weeks ago - it's never going to happen.
We live in a world where fewer people commute to work (I've sat at home and attended three meetings today already) and that trend is going to increase. Fewer and fewer young people are learning to drive - even in the US! My kids...
