[Other Sport] Which sports do you play?

I've marked rugby, as I play touch rugby. I'm too old to play contact. I still play cricket but I suspect this will be my last season - I find it harder and harder to move It's definitely the worst aspect of ageing, I used to do a lot of sports - none particularly well - but as someone who's...

    [News] Nigel Farage and Reform

I have no way of knowing it but I reckon if the referendum had been for another form of PR instead of AV, it would still have lost to FPTP. And if there had been several versions of PR, then FPTP would have been even further ahead. Of course, a Labour government could re-run the referendum...

[Cricket] Sussex CCC - 2024 edition

Not sure why they sent White out to bat; the fella's not well and they weren't going to chase down 60 odd. If it had been a dozen, I'd have understood. Still, a good win for Sussex. Next game v Yorkshire is going to be a good test - win that and they're virtually home

    [News] Nigel Farage and Reform

That's true but I think anyone would hard pressed to say that it showed a dislike of FPTP.

    [News] Nigel Farage and Reform

The problem that Reform (and the Tories) have is that we had a referendum on this very issue - with a massive vote in favour of keeping FPTP. If Reform/Tories agitate for another voting system and says we should ignore the referendum result, that would give carte blanche to Labour to open talks...

[Cricket] Sussex CCC - 2024 edition

I've been quite impressed with this Northants commentary team,; they're actually aware of what's going on

Another poor shot from Carter. The wicket looks a bit green and it's a bit gloomy but there have been some shocking shots

Terrible shot from Coles, really lazy cricket

[Cricket] Sussex CCC - 2024 edition

Oli Carter has kept his place, even though Hughes is back. That's good to see, I think there's a better balance to the team now (cue them collapsing to 108 all out)

    [Politics] Labour Party meltdown incoming.......

Or a footballer. Just a reminder that Peter Swan, Tony Kaye and Bronco Lane went to prison for doing just that

[Cricket] Sussex CCC - 2024 edition

That was shocking bowling - I was in a work meeting with one eye on the screen and kept swearing under my breath

[Cricket] Sussex CCC - 2024 edition

Seems a bit of a generous declaration. I'd have batted another three or four more overs and added another 20 runs. It's a decent batting wicket and that's just over three an over.

[Politics] Tory meltdown finally arrived [was: incoming]...

It's utterly bonkers. One thing we know that Labour is planning to do is to give votes to 16 and 17 year-olds. So, as well as the 18-23 age group voting for the first time, he's reinforced in the minds of teenagers that the Tories are hostile to them - that's a massive tranche of first-time...

[Football] Football clubs and bird names

The article mentioned West Brom's Throstles nickname is no longer being used but didn't do the same for Leeds' Peacocks.

[Albion] Don’t we know this idiot ?

I hadn't heard about the fog post - I have seen it mentioned obliquely though. I wondered what the full story was. I did know about his asking Bozza to have his posts removed and just that he was a bit of a dickhead and not really worthy of the odium heaped on him. The fog story is a different...

[Albion] Don’t we know this idiot ?

I don't know the bloke but I once got a PM from him out of the blue, commenting on something I'd written. I won't go into too much detail (it was a private message, after all) but he came across as someone who said a lot of things on NSC for effect. I had a brief exchange with him and he...

[Football] Gary Lineker, Micah Richards, Roy Keane, Alan Shearer and Eni Aluko

Have you ever seen French TV? TOWIE would be a highlight. One odd thing about the pundits is that they're all ex-players now and not managers (yes, I know managers are ex-players too but you know what I mean). If you go 20, 30 or 40 years ago, we used to get the likes of Clough, Allison, Big...

[Politics] FAO Hove & Portslade Constituents who's getting your vote?

That Martin Hess. I've actually interviewed him when he was working for a company called OSCL - I thought the name sounded familiar. He's also been chairman of Telefonica Tech, part of a Spanish company and worked in Paris for a French company. But, of course, he wasn't an immigrant, he's an expat.

[Politics] FAO Brighton Pavilion Constituents Greens or Reds?

That reminds me of the story told on TMS, of Jack Russell and Bill Athey playing for Gloucestershire at some northern county and, having not applied for a postal vote, drove all the way back home together after close of play, voted and drove all the way back - even though one voted Labour and...
