First thread posting of December. Not that I've got much to report. A frosty Worthing parkrun, 20.29.
I was running along quite happily until I noticed fellow old git John Orden ran back past me after the turn.
He did 19.48 which was sheer class.
Don't worry mate. Had it been a PB you'd have been the first know about it (PB/SB is 20.14).
Is your extensive travelling driven by the lust for age cat wins?
When are you due back to civilisation?
Lowden is still very, very rapid. He turned up at Crowborough on Sunday but (thank the Lord) wasn't running: he lives there, but is still a member of one of the Brighton running clubs. I follow him on Strava and he certainly doesn't pile up the miles in training.
With Parkruns I think he tends...
Thoroughly recommend Crowborough. Great atmosphere, value for money and entries on the day.
Challenging course with zero chance of a PB. Mind you, the first 2k is downhill at a 3.40 per k pace for me which is ridiculous. What's then to come is a fast flowing stream and a lung busting hill. And...
Field of well over 400 at Worthing today and some particularly good women runners.
Nice conditions. 20.28 and an AG of 83.47%.
Good luck to anyone running the Brighton 10k or, like me, running at Crowborough in the hope that all the class runners are in Brighton.
Cheers! I think my main - arguably sole - purpose on the planet is to act as a beacon of hope to those approaching the old git phase of their running career... ..
I've been a bit lax about posting lately. Possibly this is because I've been on a bit of a plateau, churning out weekly parkruns (usually around 20.50) and the occasional 10k where I've ducked under 43 a couple of times.
I know that the ever popular Brighton10k is on Sunday, but there's also the...
Crocked for 2 weeks with the bad back. Saw a physio on Thursday and felt a lot better to the point where I risked running Worthing PR today.
Relieved to have clocked 20.33 (83.13%) and even more relieved not to have had a reaction from the back.
Next week is Worthing's 250th (and my 249th -...
Almost spot on. I did some silly exercise with a bloody great kettlebell and then was on allotment duty. The combo was too much. But I then made it worse by running on Saturday. Now, it's in some sort of prolonged spasm and I'm hitting the painkillers. Very much doubt if I'll be able to run...
Anyone looking for a decent 10k event this time next year should consider the Eastbourne Tempo race. Very well organised, friendly and a decent standard without being too intimidating. The course is good, although the 2 laps format is not great when you realise you have to run the long hill from...
The Worthing of 2022 has indeed got many delights. This is just as well as with the roads and volume of traffic east (A27) and west (A259), it's almost impossible to leave the place.
Thanks SimG. A sub 20 is l a distant dream in a kind of so near yet so far sort of way.
Re the Weakest Link I'm not overly keen as I've got 3x10ks over the next few weeks plus my ongoing parkrun habit. Last time I was first reserve and could possibly be available again in that capacity if needed.
The thread has gone pretty quiet but protocol demands a report of a PB so here goes:
20.14/84.43%.
I can well understand, Gaffer, if you don't regard updating the table as a matter of high priority and hope all is well with you.
