The media is a two way street, if you think we as a club/individual's within that club have never used the media for our own benefit and purely to just be really nice/say yes to a few journalists that's fairly short sighted.
I'll repeat myself again. Paul Barber is VERY good at his job...
Was it also his job to appear on 'Britain's most expensive houses'?
As I've said before, he is undoubtedly very good at his job- that doesn't make him immune to criticism or character flaws though
Backwards is probably harsh. In terms of final league position yes, although we know the extenuating circumstances behind that. Overall though we have continued to progress as a club, competing in European football whilst (on the whole) playing attractive football
Nobody realistically expected...
Perhaps. I'm merely pointing out an observation and not commenting on whether PB does an excellent job or not overall- I think he does. However, that and the amount of time he spends putting himself in the media are not mutually exclusive.
I'm not sure about touting for a job but its undeniable that Barber has been putting himself out into the media frequently in the last year with tv interviews, podcast appearances, radio chats etc.
Great at what he does, undoubtedly, but there's quite clearly a bit of an attention hungry and...
Would like to see him compete for a place in the squad but the likelihood is he becomes another Christian Walton- a few promising loans out before we ultimately sell on
Watched this earlier today, seems like a great guy. Very honest and perhaps struggling a bit to come to terms with all this new attention. Hope he does well and looking forward to whatever he does next
Of course, and we are a very well run club so likely well set up for such a thing happening. My wider point was that nobody really can guarantee that (unless Mr Bloom happens to be on here) so the idea of going down to the Championship is a lot less palatable
Only people we need IN during the summer really are TB & PB
Hopefully the squad and staff have a nice rest and come back ready for another European charge...
The issue with the prospect of relegation is there are no guarantees attached.
If you could guarantee that our ownership structure would remain intact, there wouldn't be a mass fire sale of players and exodus of staff, the club wouldn't suffer greatly from the financial impact and we would...
Seems like a decent finisher from what I've seen, which is mostly people posting clips on here. Wondering if he will play a similar role to the one we've seen Joao Pedro in quite often
You're right in that we have made some unfortunate decisions this season with the signings you mention. I think MacAllister going still hurts for a lot of reasons, but in hindsight it was probably getting him to sign that new deal-clause included- that got us to Europe in the first place...
1. The motivation for these teams is the prospect of a best ever league finish, which we don't have at this point. There is a big difference between fighting for a bit more/less prize money and to make club history
2. Form is temporary, I'm confident we'll be a long way off relegation next...
Your points about the recruitment are valid but have to whole heartedly disagree that players are going backwards under RDZ. Granted form across the whole squad hasn't hit the heights of last season but individually we have seen the likes of JPVH, Hinshelwood and Gilmour improve massively...
Its a fair point, our form is very poor and like most people I'm disappointed and deflated. However I have faith that this wont carry into next season and whilst all your points are possible, its equally possible that we start the new season afresh, with a (close to) fully fit/strengthened squad...
The over-reaction and bedwetting in response to this interview is quite funny really. There's nothing surprising about an injury decimated and deflated squad going on a poor run of form- RDZ is simply being honest about the fact the season has fizzled out and there isn't much to play for...
Its been a steep learning curve this season and rightfully everyone feels a bit deflated after what initially promised to be our greatest season ever ending up fizzling out into nothingness.
Hopefully important lessons will have been learnt at all levels, and with a bit of investment and some...
