I agree with you very much that the squad without Gilmour is weaker but comparing stats between the Arsenal and Man United games is lazy, its apples and oranges. They are completed different sides, requiring different tactical approaches- in one we were playing a top class team away from home...
Why? FK wasn't even a Brighton player this time last week and weve made a good start to the season with our existing players.
Or have I misunderstood and you mean doomed in relation to our luck with injuries?
Something in JPVH's character makes me think he's the kind of player that will stick around and not jump at the first opportunity.
Queue heartbreak in 12 months time...
Its a fair point but perhaps just speaks to how consistently good Dunk has been during most of that period that there has been no need (or perhaps opportunity) for anyone to come through and play significant games. Plenty of talented young players have been on the books- Ostigard, Goldson...
He can be both great and effective at times, but unfortunately at the moment infuriating and ineffective at others. A real talent but needs to be more consistent before he becomes more than an option off the bench.
Think it will likely be unchanged in terms of the back 4, although would like to see Ferdi feature at some point in the game. Is it beyond the realms of possibility that Veltman might switch to the left hand side to deal with Saka in one of his trademark masterclasses of man marking?
If you can recognise it was a physical game, yet cant see why we wouldn't risk bringing on a young player just back from injury I have no other option than to surmise that you might be a bit dim
This is a good, balanced assessment amidst everything else I've read on his performance last night. For me he was one of of our better players on the night with the way he carried the ball forward, although like most of the other 10 players on the pitch he had some shaky moments- as you might...
Not sure if I missed something about a loan/injury but quite fancy Jensen Weir to get a start, featured in pre-season and has continued to train with the first team recently
Interesting to read some of the wildly different, and in some cases very reactionary views based on a couple of pre-season games(what's new?!)
Predicting an exact finish is nigh on impossible but somewhere in the range of 8th-12th, maintaining consistency despite the changes in personnel would...
If this does turn out to be real, which seems dubious reading previous posts, I would file this in the category of home kits everyone hates at first but half way through the season you realise are actually alright
Fair argument. Feels like similar backstories, young hungry to learn coaches who have cut their teeth through various levels rather than coming straight from the big leagues. Probably more similar than anything which would explain the interest
