    [Travel] The morning commute.

This is going to sound very 1st world/entitled As I have a slipped disc, on the rare days I do commute I have been buying advance/split ticket 1st class for the thameslink trains. I need a seat and feel weird/unable to evict old/pregnant/disabled people from the priority seats. I've noticed...

[Politics] Starmer v Sunak *** Official Match Thread ***

The story of 'there's no money left' was David Laws going on the record about something that had been an off the record 'joke' between outgoing and incoming treasury ministers since Reginald mauling in the 60s. Then Nick Robinson (former leader of the young conservatives) making a big issue of...

[Politics] Starmer v Sunak *** Official Match Thread ***

But even fact checking can be open to abuse. On the LK prog last sunday they fact checked yvette cooper and Victoria atkins. ATKINS made a huge whopper on nhs waiting lists and success rates. Wasn't just wrong but the complete opposite wrong and got a 5 second critique saying wrong. COOPER made...

[Misc] Advice on elderly parent / (possible) dementia / hospital discharge type stuff

Don't stress on that. Hospital delirium can clear (once home, balanced meals, rehydration etc) to a point where someone can reach a point to legally contract. We actually used a solicitor so we had verifiable independent proof dad was ok to do it.

    [Politics] General Election 2024 - 4th July

Shy tories has been a phenomenon since 1992 (there were examples in 83 and 87 but tories were on course to win anyway). But 1992 and to a degree 2015 saw late switchers from labour to tory (and in 2015, lib dem and green to tory) between opinion poll and exit poll/reality. As the blog above...

[Misc] Advice on elderly parent / (possible) dementia / hospital discharge type stuff

This is such great advice and is a summary of what we were guided to do for my dad. It really did pan out almost exactly like this

[Misc] Advice on elderly parent / (possible) dementia / hospital discharge type stuff

Firstly dont apologise. I am sorry that you are having to handle this. It does sometimes feel that nobody is guiding you. This is a very similar experience to my dad. It's potentially a long answer and I'm not an expert but can explain how we dealt with things . Maybe a chat would be easier?

When you say both do you mean Abbott and Moyle? In the case of the latter he has been very dignified and continues to support the labour party and starmer

    [Politics] Labour Party meltdown incoming.......

So if she had been barred you would have said he was treating her shabbily. If it had never come to light you would have said how can she get away with no investigation. And now you are saying he is giving in. And all of this, despite it being made clear over and over again, that the leader...

    [Politics] Lloyd Russell-Moyle

As I see it (and I know you will disagree) the only 'engineering' here is from the person who made the complaint and if it is from the source that politics home say, then they're are no fans of starmer and wouldn't be wanting to do anything that helps him. Also don't forget that there have been...

    [Politics] Lloyd Russell-Moyle

I assume you don't then. Fair enough What's so difficult. You are accusing the party of holding on to a complaint (or that they would). Given the complaint came from someone on the left and came in as the election was called, any cynicism should be aimed at the complainant not the recipient

The allegation was received late last week. After the election was called. That's it. Nothing else.

Btw Iain Dale the broadcaster has abandoned his attempt to become the tory candidate for Tunbridge Wells after (checks notes) a clip emerges of him saying he 'never liked the place' and would 'happily live somewhere else'
