Early days, but in terms of consistently bad campaigning over the course of 6 weeks, it's hard to look past Teresa May's 2017 campaign for the worst in my memory. She called the GE in mid April when the Tories were polling at 48-49% with most major pollsters and ended up on 43.5% at the GE itself, which is some acheivement given she didn't have the hinderence of the Brexit/Reform party splitting the hard-right vote.
That was my take as well, I suspect Mr Shapps' sense of humour failure was more to do with the fact he'd just been predicted to get walloped in his seat in the election than anything else

I said I would never again after their betrayal, but I may have to hold my nose and vote Lib Dem as I am in the Lewes constituency. Sadly Labour have no chance here, and Maria Caulfield our Tory MP has been dreadful and has to go.

If it helps, they are fully supportive of PR, which if it ever gets implemented will mean you can vote for whomever you want and know that your vote will count in the national picture. Be amazed if this happens in my lifetime though. Why would the two major parties voluntarily change a voting system that would normally see them win a significant majority with only 45% of the popular vote?

The Conservatives have selected their candidate to stand in East Worthing and Shoreham at the General Election.

I really don't like Politics. Our choices are a local mum of 2 who's worked in the NHS in Shoreham and Worthing for 15 years and been an Adur Councillor and knows the local area and the NHS issues.
But who's party is led by a stinking rich pillock who is pushing for kids joining the army and has zero understanding of the 'common man'.
Or some bloke from London for Labour who has zero connection with the area, probably couldn't find it on a map a few weeks ago and was picked over a couple of really good local Labour candidates because he's mates with Smarmy Starmer. He's got no idea of local issues, doesn't live here, was a councillor in Lambeth where he lives and didn't attend any of the surgeries for 6 months until he was pushed out.
Only got to work out which is the shittiest and vote for the other as both are shit.
And that's why I dislike politics.

sigh. disappointing someone argue Labour dealt with a world wide economic crash, then pretend we haven't just had world wide economic disaster. even if it was dealt with poorly. why do people believe "Liz Truss crashed the economy" when she lasted only 45 days, we had US banks folding last year, inflation rates 10% and GDP flatline or negative across Europe? very very gullible taken in by a meme.

Because Liz Truss specifically did things which caused economic harm. I don’t like Jeremy Hunt particularly but he did a great job stabilising things after she left.
It’s akin to Labour and the other Tories keeping a comatose patient on life support while Liz Truss bursts into the ward and starts smacking the patient with a rolling pin to try and wake them up.
