To defend @dwayne for a minute here. Zelensky’s approach of going all in with his heart on his sleeve was not the right call with a big thin-skinned cry baby like Trump. You have to let people like that think that they are in charge, and charm them into thinking that what you want to happen is their idea
I’ve always found this idea that ‘bullies appreciate strength’ to be complete bollocks. They don’t like that at all. They like to feel like they are in control, and that’s what Zelensky needed to do here. To make Trump feel like he was the most important person in the world, who’s place in history was going to be secured by ending this war and saving thousands of lives, and gently coercing him into the way to do this that works best for Ukraine. I think a more skilled political operator could have done that.

Zelensky certainly didn't embarrass himself. He watched Trump and Vance embarrass themselves
But that's the bit of his position that is palatable. There is the other bit which you've overlooked where he seems to think the right thing to do is accept Trump's self serving position that Ukraine should concede all territory lost and just suck it up as it is the only way to ensure peace. That's the bit everybody has a problem with.
I don't believe in war. I don't think that's disgraceful. I'm definitely too old to fight. But hey ho.
