Good post. Frankly bizarre to say the pass was a better option when you see the oppo players blocking the path.Lots of comments about easier options, but those options were shut down as soon as he got in the box.
Rutter was blocked by a defender and Minteh had 3 between them.
Maybe, I'm wrong, but I have never felt we should try and mould him into the same player was already have too many of.I’m not sure. The impression I came away with after the match was that he’d been a lot more self-disciplined, and there’d been a lot less of:
a) mad wild shots
b) stepover, stepover, lose ball
c) running straight into oppo defenders and being immediately dispossessed.
However, I could absolutely be reading way too much into one performance. It could also be that if I watched the match back focusing only on Enciso, there was more nonsense than I picked up on at the time. It’s given me hope for him, whereas previously I was entirely “he’s not learning, get him out on loan.”
Also, the keeper is in an awful position which makes the shot an easier option than a passLots of comments about easier options, but those options were shut down as soon as he got in the box.

Well he's hardly going to say he hates it, is he?Not a fan of the process it seems
Although in today’s Argus FH states that he reckons he’s enjoying being here
Only a Prem team would get close to that and I can't see that happening.Reckon if anyone is happy to offer up £30-£35m he'll be gone and we'll bank about £25m profit. Could be very handy to fund some new defenders!
Atalanta have money, they don't splash it about willy nilly but they've made lots of big sales themselves over the last few years.Only a Prem team would get close to that and I can't see that happening.
I'd argue it's costing us goals and him assists. I understand why you'd pick out Ayari, but Welbeck, Rutter and Pedro are also about. Hope it clicks still, he's obviously very good but it hasn't happened since his earlier days, much like Ferguson in a way but he's had fewer opportunities.Maybe, I'm wrong, but I have never felt we should try and mold him into the same player was already have too many of.
With the amount of possession we regularly have, having a player who will chance his arm frequently, isn't really costing us that much.
I'd rather he was taking low xg shots and hitting the target, than trying to manoeuvre a high xg opportunity for Ayari, who then misses the target.
Atalanta apparently offered a purchase option of less than we bought Enciso for. No chance they’re increasing it more than 3-fold.Atalanta have money, they don't splash it about willy nilly but they've made lots of big sales themselves over the last few years.
Similar things were said about Stuttgart, but in the end they coughed up the €30m for Undav that we wanted.

I think you just proved my point for me. Upping offers by 0.3m, 5m, and 1.5m at a time will not get them close to the £30m quoted above. As shown with Napoli and Gilmour, we're not going to get good offers from Italian teams.Well - according to reports in the summer - Atalanta bid five times for O'Riley: £14m, £14.3m, £15m, £20m and finally £21.5m, plus add-ons. So, they have previous of starting low ball and upping.
His agents are tough. When we first signed him, we wanted to give him a five-year-deal but his representatives said no and only wanted maximum four.Enciso's contract ends in mid-2026 and although apparently from Brighton they would consider renewing, the striker has no intention of extending the bond, since he sees his future outside the club in a few years.
Julio Enciso and his entourage have until January 31 to decide his future, which could be outside the Premier League.
