Scored a lovely bullet header in the pre match build up, sigh.

Can’t fault his effort but he was clearly trying too hard.

Such a strange contrast if him attempting shots when he should and the rest of the team seemingly unable to understand that sometimes you put your laces through a half chance first time and they sometimes go in.

Frustrating as usual

Only positive is despite the dross served up my youngest put away his tablet after half time and watched the full second half for the first time ( normally manages a half) I think we’ve got him now

Enciso’s blind ball out to the Lino did it for me.

A number 10 needs vision and that showed he has the technical ability of a Prem player but the vision of a pub team player.
Said the same during the game, he has no football brain at all.

I thought there was a big difference there between him and Gruda for example. He’s got a lot of work to do there or I fear he’ll always be too much of an individual for a PL team.

I thought he was working too hard for the team, to be honest, yet looked our greatest threat for much of the first half.

We have to remember he’s not started a Prem game before tonight and it’s late December.

Expectations are too high for him considering how little football he’s played this season.

He flatters to deceive for me both previously and at the moment. He's a bit like pulling a quality bird based on her looks and enthusiasm and when you get her back home in the sack for the business end, it's a massive disappointment.

I would have left him on and taken Jao Pedro off, his body language was all wrong, staying up field and in offside positions. While enciso didn't do too well with his shots and headers ,saw very little from JP who also tried to be beat too many players.

He was poor tonight. He doesnt look like a team player to me at the moment. Probably trying too hard to cement a place in the team. He wants to beat players with step-overs and score 30 yard worldies. I lost count the amount of times he misplayed passes or miscontrolled the ball.

I think he was super tired. Looked finished around the 55th minute or so.

last i heard, he was lazy, uninterested and needed moving on in january. now the narrative is that he’s trying too hard? do i have that right?

nothing came off for him tonight, but everything good we did went through him. things certainly didn’t get any better when rutter came on.

Not sure where the narrative came from him being disinterested. I Dont pay attention from rumours off the pitch and on social media. All can say was tonight he wasn’t very good. Rutter came on in the 80th minute so didnt really have much time to do much.

How many more years do we give him before we can ask for a goal?

Two years, 96 shots, 2 goals (both for Paraguay). Its amazing how much credit, attention and hype this player gets for quite literally doing absolutely nothing for us.

that’s not my decision. that’s up to the club. i remain keen on him sticking around as i’ve seen what he can do. and i’m not really sure where you’re getting this two years thing from, *that* goal against city (which in the long run was probably one of the worst things to happen to him) was in may ‘23 so it’s been just over 18 months, and he’s been injured for a good chunk of that.

I've also seen what he can do (like having the worst shot-to-goal-ratio in our PL history) and I'm starting to get quite keen on shipping him wherever. Preferably on loan but open for a sale.

we’ll agree to disagree on this. if the shot-to-goal ratio is what matters to you then fair enough. the club will run out of patience eventually anyway if he carries on not producing and then the entire discussion is moot.
