Do you know what though, I can’t remember that many really clear cut chances we had - Mitoma’s early miss, some headers over the top, a few comfortable stops for their keeper following defensive errors. We weren’t missing sitters tonight and their keeper didn’t have a worldie.

Aside from their disallowed goal, they had the best chance which wasn’t a goal in the first half, when Archer shot wide from 6 yards.

I think it was a 55-45 type game in their favour and in the end, a draw (just fractionally) favours us, regardless of one’s view on the disallowed goal.
We hit the post first half, Mitoma should have scored from his early chance and there was another we should have buried.

Game should have been out of sight at half time.

Still it's football and we know that burying these chances ain't that easy.

The ref was only poor because he sometimes gave fouls against us and that's very annoying....

Four Southampton players booked, two Albion. But we committed slightly more fouls.

Ref, generally is the case, was fine. Albion not taking advantage when it was there wasn't.

Anyway, time for the cricket- and HIGNFY
It’s consistency again. Comparing some of the fouls post booking to the Baleba second yellow last week…

Our two goals last week were from one touch, quick intricate passing in the build up.

What happened to that this week?

On the bright side though Mitoma is looking proper dangerous at the moment. Back to his very best.

I disagree, the rule is wrong. If you are a keeper with two players running in you have to accommodate that in your positioning. Therefore both players are affecting play.

In short if Armstrong isn't there verbruggen blocks the cross or shot. Because he was there he has to try and cover both players.
Yep - this is what var made the decision on I think, and just about correct. I think the flick of the leg wasn’t really the issue. Whichever way you look at it though, it could easily have gone the other way.

He also missed an absolute sitter which set the tone for the rest of the game…

Carlton Cole saying we can't be taken seriously as top 4 contenders as we can't put away teams like Saints who deserved to win🙄
He's right there is no way we are getting anywhere near the top 4. No way, never 😂

What a twat.

"Not great. Points dropped. We had a lot of chances, especially in the first half, but we weren't ruthless enough."

"Maybe a lack of intensity, a bit sloppy on the ball, bad decision making, it just wasn't really good enough."

"If you don't work hard enough you're never going to win."

"We tried to win but we weren't good enough."

"I feel good physically which is positive. I'd like to contribute more. It's nice to be back playing. I feel like I'm getting fitter every day."

That’s as frustrating a game as I’ve seen in a while. Southampton are awful.
We’ve fluffed our lines arguably 4 times this season and so for me, it has to be a mentality issue.
What concerns me equally as much is that we only have 1 decent half in us each match. It’s been the same every game this season.
Perhaps we aren’t as good as I thought we might be.

To be honest it’s only the media and the most hopped up fans who are saying we are top four candidates anyway. I’d start to believe after 30 games, not 12.

But this ongoing trend (under three managers!) of being unable to put teams below us away at home has to change for us to progress another level.

I mean we are contenders on account of the fact that this is the worst the league has been since Leicester won the Prem.

Doesn’t mean we’ll achieve it, of course.

"
Not the best game from us regarding intensity, how we pressed out of possession, how we used our chances. We only deserved a draw."

"When a team presses you man to man it's not too easy to control the game. We tried to find the way. We managed it in the first half but not the second half."

(On Mitoma's strengths)

"His work-ethic, trying to be the best version every day, trying to listen."

"We should be disappointed becuase we wanted to win at home, to present the fans another win and we weren't able to. It's part of the process we have to keep going and winning these games."

(On why he was booked)

"I don't know. I didn't say anything. You have to be careful with questions you ask [afterwards about officials]."

I am annoyed with myself, spoke to somebody in the Swan about the game, said on paper should be 4-0 but knowing Brighton it’s a guaranteed 1-1, checked Ladbrokes 9/1, nearly did a insurance bet but backed out.
