I get that, and I’m not disagreeing really. I just think this season is as good of a chance as we will have to break into the top 4. And I think that’s partly because many of the so called bigger sides just aren’t very good.

Saying that, we’ve just drawn at home to a really poor Saints side… so neither are we, clearly.
We have to change our mentality... I believe we still “hope” to win when we have enough to have more confidence than that.

I’d like O’Riley to be interviewed every match. I just get the impression you’ll always get a frank and honest answer from him and not some fluffed up cliches.
Said to be a really great bloke - one of the genuinely decent men in football. I think he takes his sport seriously and gives loads back.

Lamptey, apart from his cross for goal, was so negative, backwards, sideways..... really stifled progress down the right for most of the game,... Rutter tried his best first half, but I think gave up a bit in the 2nd.
The biggest problem for Lamptey is he seems to need 2-3 touches to control the ball at the moment. In the Premier League, that’s quite a big flaw.

BUT, he put in the two most dangerous crosses of the game, one of which we scored from, and he generally defended very well.

We should have scored more in the 1st half and you know that it gives teams more encouragement if it's only one goal during the game. We didn't play well 2nd half and saints grew in confidence. Still not lost at home but it was close. Second in the league . . . What's wrong with that.

They always start with the goal scorer and go backwards to look at other factors (offsides off the ball, fouls off the ball) - there was nothing dubious about the decision making process perhaps except how long it took.

I think it’s the wrong decision, but in terms of the process it was consistent - work backwards from the ball going into the net.
I think there are 4 refs in the VAR Room, can they not f'ing multitask.

Thought Ayari was a waste of Space and if we wanted to take off a player, going down to 10 couldn't be worse than bringing on Wieffer.
I thought Ayari was our best midfield player after the first 7-8 minutes. Considering he was playing a new role at the base of our midfield, he generally did it well.

Just not as well as Baleba would have.

To be fair to Southampton- they are still finding their feet in the Premier League- they gave Liverpool a real scare last weekend- they are improving every week.
Had Mitoma scored early on, it’s a different game, but he didn’t.
Second half they were the better team, we got lucky with the VAR decision but we are now second in the Premier League, I reckon we will SMASH Fulham midweek, Pedro Hat trick (one pen)
Missed opportunity again but we are learning in each game.
Strap in, hold tight and enjoy the Brighton & Hove Albion rollercoaster- it’s going to be one hell of an exciting season 💙🤍💙🤍

Well I’m sure they do, but the main VAR ref is the decision maker, so by the time the assistants have watched multiple times and seen a potential infraction, that goes up the chain and he has to watch multiple times too - for both incidents.

I agree, it should be quicker but the fact they took so long gave us the decision.

Fulham away with our poor record there and Leicester away with new manager bounce. What could go wrong?

I just don’t see it, personally. In my opinion it is a process of progression. Changing mentalities. Europe was a huge step, but this club has never won any meaningful silverware. Without meaning to sound too managerial wanky I see our next “step” as winning a cup while firmly entrenched in the top half of the table every season. A league cup would do.

The squad, this club, these fans need the feeling of winning something to truly be able to go another step beyond. That’s a big reason why I was so gutted with our League Cup exit and place so much hope on the FA Cup.
Division 2:
Sheffield Bonanza 1 - 4 Dynamo Abadair
Manchester Coherent 2 - 2 Jill Morrell

Scottish Division 1:
Taste of Dunfermline v Strathcarnage - could not be stopped.

It was reported on my stream that is was very much all about the flick of the leg.
Actually on Sky (and it may have been the same as your stream) they quoted the words from var which didn’t mention the flick at all- it was about interfering with Verbruggen. The commentary team then took it upon themselves to decide it was about the flick.
