Is this just a ploy to try to get me to post some pictures of me with my top off?

Oh. I can guarantee you that they don't work as advertised.

The advice I had was that unless you're getting a proper measurement from a professional, you'd be better simply comparing yourself to pictures of others. Obviously I didn't just use the link I sent, but I compared several sites. Thinking about it, maybe it was all just an excuse for me to look at photos of half naked men 🤔

My update . 2 weeks down as of today on a planned 5 week cut I was doing anyway
Started 86.4kg
week 1 85.4 kg down 1 kg
week 2 84.7 kg down .7kg. actually lost .4kg overnight so makes it a little better.

Goal was 82kg but I don't think im going to make that. Haven't cheated in the week, haven't had any alcohol and have averaged 10k steps (goal was 11k)

Little bit disappointed to be fair with how strict I've been but weight doesn't come off in a linear manner. I can see in the mirror the weight coming off but not on the scales. I also think anecdotally that your body has sticking points, and I seem to have one at 85kg so hopefully it should start moving again.

to try to hit my goal I'm upping my steps to 12k a day and reducing my food intake from 175g protein 50g fat 190g carbs to 175g protein 50g fat 140g carbs per day. protein needs to stay same for muscle retention, fats are at minimum anyway so can only cut out carbs. im not going lower than that as I will just be miserable. Sometimes just a little tweak like that can kickstart the weight loss again.

Reckon im 15/16% bodyfat . Have abs , veins in my chest so im pretty lean anyway . But as others have said ignore body fat % from scales they dont have a clue . even dexascan and body fold calipers done by a pro arent that accurate. Best off looking at pics. Even that doent matter really . I just cut weight off till i get as lean as poss (full 6 pack) which i do pre holiday / summer then bulk up till the abs fade away and i feel a bit fat then rinse and repeat.

Sorry if that ramble is a bit boring but im a bit of a nerd when it comes to this . well done to everyone

Day 17: 84.25kg (13st 4lb); body fat 17.4%

A 2.25kg (5lb) loss since the day 1 weigh-in. But a huge 1.35kg (3lb) gain since yesterday’s weigh-in.

No, I didn’t binge myself stupid yesterday, I stayed on-track with the no snacking regime that I started in 1 Nov. So why such a difference? I had a hard 1 hour session on the turbo trainer yesterday morning and weighed myself immediately afterwards. So I reckon the difference is water - I sweated away the best part of a kilo and a half on the turbo yesterday morning.

At least I know what I’ll be doing immediately before the final weigh-in on 30 Nov 😉
Whatever you do don’t cut down your water/fluid intake. Water is good for so many things including feeling full up, keeping the vital organs working efficiently and staying hydrated and therefore better able to exercise. In fact the more water you drink, the less your body stores.

A couple of blow outs last week. Not too bad. November not the best month of the year. Short days, in doors a lot etc. Atleast kept weight off.
Too true. And I find December the worst of the year. So we'll done for having a go this month. Stick with it. It'll be worth it.

Day 18 - 14st 1lb

I have plateaued at between 14st 2lb and 14st 1lb, fluctuating between the two for the last 4 days, mind you my scales did go, 14 dead, then thought about it and changed to 14st 1lb this morning. I'm guessing a more accurate set of scales would have me somewhere between 14st 1lb and 14st 0lb.

Anyway, still going in the right direction, if just a bit more slowly now!

Absolutely no effort - scoffed two boxes of chocalates in past fortnight, late night snacking, pizzas and take away curries.

Only thing I have stuck to is no bread and less rice and pasta in meals also cooking more fresh food and eating lots of oranges.

Anyway, the way he spoke about how he figured out how to lose weight himself recently was quite interesting.

This episode on a podcast I subscribe to is sort of relevant to the discussions here. It's normally about small business growth, but the host, Matt, drew parallels between weight loss and running a business.

Anyway, the way he spoke about how he figured out how to lose weight himself recently was quite interesting.


An interesting podcast so far. I'm only halfway through ( it's 48 minutes long), and I no longer run a business.

However, he has already mentioned several things that resonate with the way I see trying to achieve weight-loss. Having been on a weight-loss programme 10-11 years ago ( kindly paid for by the NHS as my BMI was 30..! ), the various ways of achieving the desired goals are so many. It's often a case of finding one that suits. I shall listen to rest tomorrow.

And I'm still looking for more sensible suggestions and variety of healthy dishes from anyone.

This evening I will be focussed on one of the recipes El Presidente suggested the other day ( also The Hairy Bikers ? ).

I lost some weight last year using this programme (don't recommend it really). But their recipes were brilliant. Tasty, easy to cook and very easy to stick with. I had a listen, and whilst suspecting that he was gettting his steps in at times as tended to repeat some points perhaps a wee bit too much, the big takeaways for me were

1: Keep it simple
2: If it can be measured it can be managed, a great phrase that I've not heard before, which brings us back to tales of Guppy Saunders' todger once more.

Just finished supper after having cooked your suggestion ( Hairy Bikers pepper and feta cheese.)..........


I,ll give it a 10/10...!

It was a bit of a faff as you said, but well worth it.

My only disappointment was I thought the recipe was for one person but it is for two. I have cooked for two, so i have no idea how the second pepper will taste tomorrow after being re-heated in the microwave .????

So many flavours in it and very filling too.

I didn't have hazel nuts so used almonds in stead. Didn't have parsley so mixed herbs had to do. Didn't have feta cheese so made do with laughing cow...ha ha. Apart from that followed the recipe throughout.

416 calories in all, and made such a change from my usual regime food change. Now we're in the 3rd week, variety is much needed.

Wednesday night supper will be the chicken fillet suggestion.

PS; The 25 minute baking time gave me plenty of time to wash all the cutting boards and plates I used and knock up 1500 steps while waiting .

Nice. I saw the ingredients (didn't read the manual) and guessed at more calories than that, but 416 isn't bad is it.
