More chance of 1066 gull shagging Kate and pippa Middleton in a threesome than bozza wanting me as a mod

Don't they just move threads from the Big Board to the Other Stuff?

Outside of issuing bans, what does a mod actually do?

Give warnings, laugh at less fortunate posters and enjoy exclusive access to El P's extensive porn stash.

Outside of issuing bans, what does a mod actually do?

Essentially, keeping the peace - much like a Sheriff in the Wild West. Walking into the saloon with a bit of a swagger during a full-on, chair throwing and bar counter sliding fistfight. Fire a couple of shots into the air - followed by a stern but wise look. A sense of normality is resumed as the troublemakers shake hands, and the piano starts playing again.

At least, that's how it works in my head.

If you've ever been naughty in the slightest then there is literally no chance of you ever becoming a mod.

This is simply because there is a reasonable chance there is stuff about you in the ultra-secret hidden mod area and there's no way I can be arsed to go and look and tidy it up first.

What, even one tiny little infraction? Surely getting people with a bit of form but who are now reformed characters would be a good idea? Like ex gang members who become youth workers. It takes a thief to catch a thief, after all.

Quite why anyone would want to be a mod (unless they were legally responsible for the site) I have no idea. If I was one all I'd do is hand out lifetime bans anyone who disagreed with me.

From observation, the most effective mods are the ones who "do" the least.

With the exception of occassional flurries of activity caused by deliberate undermining of the site by a small minority plus keeping an eye on spammers, the strength of this site is the extent of the "freedom" it offers users

I could always lend a hand and keep an eye out in the wee hours when the other mods are asleep I guess...

I've a pretty clean record I think?

I quite like the idea of 'tidying' up the board, merging and moving threads etc, as I am a bit OCD when it comes to clutter and do spend far too much time on here between 9am-5pm!
