But you have not idea what Carole/Frutos' agent was asking. Carole and Frutos were only young second division players but they did not come cheap in terms of the Albion's wage structure.
Carole and Frutos both had top level experience with Monaco and Metz respectively, as well as loan spells in the second division with Chateroux. Bagayoko has only played in the fourth division with PSG's youth side. I can't imagine he'd cost more than any of the players we signed through an agent last summer.

Good young players are adaptable, it's only in England that we are so blinkered. El Abd and Lynch are specialist centre backs who can also play full back, why is that a problem??

Its not if they are not moved around and given a chance to bed in, something they were not last year.

Carole had played about 4 games before he arrived at Brighton

Lynch managed to step up from the youth team to a position he was not familiar with in the 1st team and be better than anyone else there. As long as he's in the team I doubt he gives a shit and if he's as good as everyone thinks, it should make no difference. Needs must at the pauper club

Yes but once in the first team how much did he play in the youth or stiffs? and was he moved from lb during his time in the first team?

I am not saying it is a problem, what I am getting at is that it doesn't seem to be condusive to the team to constantly chop and change the positions of players - reid appeared to be the classic example of that where at times he looked lost as to where exactly he was playing.

However I see your point and as I appear to be a minority of 1, I bow to your superior argument and gracefully retire.

It is not that easy. We don't have two specialist in each position. Could we afford to keep Lynch, El-Abd, Breach, Elphick, Butters & Hinsh and have specialists? We have to use what we have and if that means fitting square pegs in round holes, then so be it.

It entirely depends whether the agent was trying it on, and that's perfectly conceivable. McGhee's last words on the issue was that thay were contacting the agent to discuss terms. Then the next we hear, we are no longer persuing our interest.

The McGhee handbook states that we do not need specialist full backs, just shove a couple of your favourites in there, if their preferred position is already filled, it is not like it will cost us.

He has a handbook to go with his velvet bag?
