I'd be more upset if we blew our transfer budget on an average French L/B when it is more important to bring in someone who can score and create goals.

As Sir Danny Cullip said in another thread presumably it is wages. McGhee said he was very impressed and from what I have seen of him he looked fairly sharp. Relocating to England could have been a factor in his wage demands and we can't break our wage structure for one player.

Shame but we have to move on if that is the case....
A 19 year old released by PSG? He's not played as high up as Carole, Frutos, or even Chagnieau, his wages shouldn't be out of our range, especially having in the past year sold/released some top earners in Knight, McCammon, Turienzo, as well as releasing a number of others.

I think bringing in a defender on loan is more of a priority than a striker now. Even though signing an experienced striker is crucial, our defence is too weak to start the first few games of the season.

Paul Reid to start the season at left back ? He played there for a certain amount of games last season.

What about Albert Jarrett playing LWB then ? He's a natural left footer and played well on the left at the beginning of last season before getting injured.

Edit: :dunce: just realised that he's on trial at Watford

This is a massive mistake. If this guy is as good as he sounds, surely this is an INVESTMENT rather than a cost and we can sell him on at season end for a decent profit. Can't Bloom go out and win some money so we can buy him? :(

I assume our defence will now be

Hart.......El Abd.....Lynch......Rents/Mayo

Harty is a midfielderish
El Abd a full back
Lynch a full back ( who supposedly can play at the back)
Rents mmmmmm
Mayo and midfielder.

El Abd and Lynch are both centre-backs and have been since their youth team days

But you have not idea what Carole/Frutos' agent was asking. Carole and Frutos were only young second division players but they did not come cheap in terms of the Albion's wage structure.

...who have been playing at left and right back for a great many games last season.

I am more concerned with the this constant chopping and changing of personnel into different positions. last year it almost became farcicle with one week el abd at full back, the next garry hart, then paul reid and joel lynch had a go. I would have thought by know MM would know what position suits what player and stick by it.

Good young players are adaptable, it's only in England that we are so blinkered. El Abd and Lynch are specialist centre backs who can also play full back, why is that a problem??
