From the local Hampshire rag : POMPEY will be liquidated on August 10 unless a compromise can be reached with the club’s high earners.

The News has learned Mr Birch met with Pompey staff this afternoon to inform them of the date.

Administrators have been working to come up with a compromise with players over a wage bill of around £9.5m.

Surely they are toast now. Be good to see them back as a Luton type club in about seven years after coming up through the leagues.

As has been mentioned in this and every thread about pompey, Gibraltar FA are footing the bill for pompey to come over, and it's not the whole squad, just youth and triallists. The expensive players have stayed home to be available for transfers.

Really !!!!!!! Hmmmm ??

Still seems a very odd thing to do !!!
I would be very sceptical if I was a Portsmouth fan !!!
Why would you make the "expensive players" stay at home if they are burning your clubs money by the second ???
Make them earn their wages, it wouldn't cost the club anymore for at least one or two them to be there !!
I would have thought Pompey's biggest interest at the moment is the impending liquidation order being carried out next Wednesday,
and not actually playing football in Spain or anywhere else for the time being !!

There was a rumour that once the Leeds takeover is completed Ken Bates is going to buy Portsmouth. He is not the best man to do it but possibly the best Portsmouth could hope for at the moment. He would at least give them a chance in Div 1 or 2 of getting back into the championship.

Huselklepp now going back to Norway to rejoin a former club , FK Brann. Bari his former club must have been told if he didn't leave Pompey immediately they would lose the £1.5M still owed to them.
Lawrence could be the next one to go , its going to be brown trousers time for Pompey fans because Kitson is digging his heels in and no-one is interested in signing him. Kanu and TBH might bail out right at the last moment.

It seems to me like the fewer players they have left, the more likely they are to cave and leave, allowing Chanrai to come in, squeeze a few million out of portsmouth before leaving them in administration again in a year, or if they're lucky, two year's time. With 8 of you, the blame and hatred of the fans who refuse to blame the right people is spread around. If it's just a couple of you the pressure of that can be too much.

Kanu especially looks to be holding out for his money and doubt many Pompey fans in Nigeria to give him grief and TBH was right in what he said, why should he forfeit money so Birch can trouser an extortionate sum ?

1. The players don't have to do anything. They can hold out for the cash and see if a sugar daddy who supports Pompey pays them off. Its fair enough, many off us might do the same thing. However, the bottom line is that the club does not have the money to pay them and so if the sugar daddy does not turn up then the club will be liquidated and they will get nothing. Its their spin of the coin, their cash, and their decision to make.
2. Pointing the finger at the administrators fees is however just something for Kanu to say. If an administrator does not have his fees in the administration guaranteed then there would be no administrators because an administrator walks into an already insolvent position when he starts his work.

Kanu has now left. He gave the club the mandatory 14 days notice to be released from the remaining 12 months on his contract. Administrators are now trying to get the FL to hold a tribunal to settle the claim for wages owed to Kanu as they dispute he is owed £3M. The FL should tell Birch they cannot convene a tribunal at such short notice and pencil it in for 2 weeks time.

Have to say Birch is a total clown. Kanu is claiming deferred wages. Birch appears to be arguing that Kanu has negated the whole of the last three years of his contract by walking out last month. :nono:

A total mess and I hope the Pompey Trust are successful in their takeover bid. At least the club would be run by fans - that may mean liquidation and start again - but that's better than another bunch of crooks taking over surely?

The FA are not interested in clubs having a fit and proper person running a club look at pompy, they also have no concerns about racism following the John terry incident. What is it that the FA do actualy do, fcuk all as far as ican see
