Finally saw Da Vinci this weekend, saw Borat a couple of weeks back.

Da Vinci code was watchable, no where near as good as the book but held my attention without me ever thinking it was as dire as some reviews thought.

Id give it a 6.5.

Borat was really really rubbish imo. Funny for the first 15 mins, embarrasing for the last hour. The plot and most of the clips were so contrived, I just felt everything was staged, no where near as good as the clips in the Ali G show he did.

5.6.

I though the Da Vinci Code was much much better than I expected and the reviews and gave it 8.0

Also caught The Wedding Crashers on Sky Friday night.

Had avoided again as I though it would be poor but thoroughly enjoyed it, and Will Ferrells cameo character had me laughing out loud.

Feel Good comedy, ended a bit cheesy, but all good.

7.4

the squid and the whale

excellent film despite lack of plot. not a great deal of closure at the end although still very funny and enjoyable throughout. only a short one as well lasting hour and quarter. defiantely worth a watch.

8.5/10

Downfall 8.7

I have been meaning to watch this for some time and brought it for £ 6. Watched it over 3 nights and it is quite simply superb. A tour de force of acting with one of the greatest performances put on celluloid as Hitler. The last 48 hours of the war with Hitler and his aides holed up in their bunker in Berlin with the Russians a few hundred metres and Hitler's ever increasing insane ramblings and rants where he thought right to the final moment his armies woudl regroup and win.

Simply a must see movie, not quite the achievement of Schindler's List but the second best film of the Second WW and better than the Pianist imho

Layer Cake 7.1

Daniel Craig in awesome form, a good old fashioned gangster film and you can see why the makers of Bond saw this and thought " thats our man ".

Yes it was. But you're spot on about Downfall though. Bruno Ganz's incredible performance is nothing short of genius, and, dominant though that is, the rest of the film is brilliant too.

i was actually alluding to the fact that you simply can't see past that spielberg rubbish can you?

downfall is a classic film, an absolute classic. i'm rather surprised that you haven't seen it before given your self-promotion as a connoisseur of film.

to rank it below schindler's bloody list is a joke, the one i was making.

fair enough, lets just agree Downfall is a great film rather than have posts winding people up

Afters isn't a cretin. OK, at least not all the time.
I genuinely have a problem with Schindlers List and think the Pianist is a much better film on the same topic.
I love Downfall, as you do.

There's no wind-up there at all. Live with it and chill out!

Right there, next to 1940.

I think you'll find it will come under the " comedy " bracket
