That’s what the commentator on the stream was saying - don’t shoot the messenger!
I was more having a pop at Biden.

Please no gun related imagery/metaphors, you'll get accused of having blood on your hands 😂😂

To borrow that memorable phrase once used about John McCarrick, he looks like a hedge dragged through a man backwards.
Again, being fully blind and reporting on short notice, his sartorial styling and personal grooming probably wasn’t at the top of the list of his concerns…

He always looks like that tbf. And I admire him for it. And I also really like his journalism. I must admit, I didn’t appreciate he was fully blind - I thought he had sight in one eye.

Ooof… you know he’s blind, right?
Rather reminds me of an interviewer at a marathon who made a comment about the runner's costume feet only to be told they looked like that because they were deformed.

Horrific. Still doesn’t make sense that trump only got away with a grazed ear.

Why doesn't it make sense?

The shooter wasn't great and/or Trump happened to turn his head at exactly the right moment meaning it skimmed his ear instead of taking him out.

Watching the footage, it's kinda natural to think the shot came from directly behind the camera. It probably came from a far wider angle. The rally attendee who sadly lost their life probably wasn't in the footage we've all seen due to the angle of the shot.

It’s hard to comprehend the ramifications right across America had that assassination attempt succeeded. Trump’s base would probably have moved to a civil war footing.

As it is, one Presidential candidate is senile and the other has just been shot in the head. What a f***ing mess. I wish they would both just shake hands, withdraw from the race and leave it to 2 people 30 or 40 years younger to lead the world into whatever comes next.

I still can't understand how quite a large number of people get their phones out to start recording, despite literal bullets flying within 20 meters of them.
Gotta get that video uploaded and people will like me for it, right?:shrug:

No, no I didn't, which obviously makes me feel like a very bad person indeed.

I'll back away from my ill-judged comment.
Oh I’m not offended or anything, it was more of a “just so you know” thing than having a dig. (y)

Looks like to me it comes from trumps left. The viewers right. I do agree though if it’s from behind the camera that’s possible but you’d expect those behind trump to drop like flies. They don’t.

Also watch the footage he’s not looking at the camera so any bullet was from the side. How do you get a bullet to the ear but it doesn’t go through and into your head. Sorry but he’s not been shot or if he has it’s pure luck the injuries he has are so minimal especially when someone in the crowd has died.

Yes. Which l I suppose is why people who do this sort of thing professionally prioritise two rounds into the chest mass over a head shot, apparently.

Agreed it would have triggered a violent shit storm but Trump’s base has been on civil war footing for several years. The continuous dog whistling we’ve seen from Trump ever since he lost the 2020 election has been outrageous- only a few days ago he was proclaiming that there would be world war 3 if Biden got elected - and it would be the last election America would ever have - his whole rhetoric has been to incite a violent takeover to ‘save our democracy’. This is a man who has been indicted for insurrection and said he would be immune if he shot his enemies.

Even after he’s been shot at, he gets up and fist pumps the air, faces his supporters shouting “ FIGHT FIGHT FIGHT!” and the crowd is cheering loudly. How is that not inciting further violence?

Words have consequence.

I absolutely agree they both should withdraw. Some of Biden’s rhetoric has also lo been inflammatory

My fears are for Biden if he wins the election too. That is just as likely to trigger widespread civil disobedience.
