Now I'm at home in the garden, no, it's bloody lovely.

I had the last two days off work, but spent them laying a patio and felt that it was a little on the warm side. If I had just been sat outside drinking a beer then it would have been just about right.

Incorrect. Optimal air con temperature is 21 to 22 Celcius for comfort and energy consumption. The 'feel' of air con temperatures is several degrees cooler than natural ambient temperature. 16 degrees air con is blooming cold, especially if you're anywhere near an outlet.

Our aircon only goes down to 19, and even on full blast is expelled at the rate of an asthmatic pit pony. Plus I'm by a window which gets the sun all afternoon.

Yes, it does very much depend on how efficient your air con is for its environment. Being a shaven-headed fellow, sitting anywhere near one of our efficient units on anything sub 19 is akin to sticking your head in a freezer.

Never, ever complain about it being too hot in England. But can complain I have to be dressed up in a suit when I SHOULD be out in the sunshine wearing shorts, drinking beer and oogling women. Which incidently is my favourite past-time.
