Decent game to watch at The Shooting Field tonight. Very tetchy at times with both sides constantly moaning at the referee and appealing for various decisions.

Finished Steyning 2 Lingfield 4.

Steyning went 2.0 ahead but Lingfield scored twice before half time although Steyning unlucky not to go 3.1 ahead when their forward crashed a shot against the post.

Visitors dominated the start of the 2nd half and went 3.2 ahead with a long range deflected free kick and grabbed another from a set play.

Steyning could have been awarded a penalty when the keeper and forward collided but the referee with assistance from his linesman gave Steyning a corner instead.

Steyning then has their skipper dismissed for 2 yellows, both for dissent in the same incident.

An 18 man kerfuffle with players from both sides pushing and shoving each other arguing over yet another foul was the last action of the game.

Excellent report! Lingfield deserved the win. Steyning couldn’t keep the ball, resorting to the long ball too often which just kept coming back. Lingfield moved forward in numbers and created pressure which eventually told. It was a ridiculously tetchy game, a schoolboy sending off, and a kerfuffle (good word) that both sides were more than willing to get involved in. Decent date (about 100).

Shoreham away in the Senior Cup on Tuesday,

Not quite non-league but I’m going to enjoy watching the BIGGEST club in WORLD football Sheffield Wednesday take on Cheltenham at a soggy Whaddon Road today. Brilliant how far we’ve parted since our matches..

Saltdean 1 Alfold 0 today ... tight game, Alfold came more into the game as it progressed, Saltdean just about managed to hang on to the win and go second in the table. Breezy day up on the downs!

7 wins away from a trip to Wembley after Worthing won 2.0 today at Chertsey Town.

A goal late in each half gave us a deserved win despite having to play an hour with 10 men.

Decent ground, cover on all 4 sides and a very smart clubhouse.

454 in attendance. Draw for the next round to be announced on Monday lunchtime.

Bexhill United 1-1 Uckfield Town . 112 at The Polegrove yesterday to watch a rather scrappy encounter that only really came alive in the last 10 minutes when both teams had chances to bag 3 points .

Overall though a draw a fair result . Webp.net-resizeimage(8).jpgWebp.net-resizeimage(9).jpgWebp.net-resizeimage(10).jpgWebp.net-resizeimage(11).jpgWebp.net-resizeimage(12).jpg

Tut tut, you left Horsham YMCA versus Montpelier Villa out of your post. Surely the highlight tie of the round!

Please accept my sincerest apologies!!!

A good draw overall for the County League sides especially with 5 of the 2nd round ties being between sides who were seeded.

A few kind draws, a few wins and some county league sides could make the latter stages.

790 at The Pilot Field tonight , the lowest crowd so far this season for Hastings United and their first game after the shock resignation of manager Chris Agutter at the weekend after successive 1-3 home reversals
The home side though were comfortable 4-1 winners against Whitstable Town who themselves are struggling at the wrong end of the Isthmian SE division .
Ex Albion trainee and Worthing striker Ben Pope assisting with two 2nd half penalty conversions .

Worthing United 0 Selsey 4 in the RUR Cup 2nd round.

Not the greatest spectacle with 2 early goals for the visitors. Worthing had a decent chance to reduce the deficit just before half time but missed the target.

2nd half was mostly dominated by Selsey who added 2 further goals to earn a comprehensive win.

I was at the top of the table clash between Saltdean and Littlehampton in the County League Premier tonight. A tetchy, scrappy game in freezing conditions, with very few chances for either side after Saltdean hit the bar in the first couple of minutes.

The hosts nicked it late on with a close range finish, but a draw would probably have been a fairer result. Saltdean's defence was probably the difference, they limited the prolific Joe Benn to a single chance which was well saved by the keeper.
