NHS England announce 46 new deaths today, compared to 70 last Friday which in itself was down from 123 the week before. Today is usually a big number from PHE outside of hospital deaths so hopefully it’s below 150 or so in total, will update when full figures are announced.

Still around 1300 new infections which isn’t really dropping but it’s very difficult to draw any comparison because we simply don’t know exactly how many people are being tested. 173 deaths which is down from 202 last week and 357 the week before. Slow progress but getting there.

Are the extra deaths from the 47 hospital deaths from Care homes as I would be surprised if people were dying of Covid at home ( maybe with but not of ?)

The PHE Friday number is always much, much higher than the rest of the week, why this is I don’t know, but this includes any deaths that aren’t in hospital, so care home, home settings etc and unfortunately the care home deaths we have no idea what the actual date of deaths are, they could be adding deaths from months ago or yesterday - there’s no breakdown so it’s hard to follow.

The moment we’ve all been waiting for - under 1000 new infections and only 15 deaths, Monday is always the lowest but that’s the lowest in 3 months.

I wonder how many comments there will be re the protests that started 3(?) weeks ago

Indeed; thankfully we do seem to have escaped a big spike from that, obviously we will never really know the impact as it won’t be released but doesn’t appear to have any effect.
