Serious irregularities at the club

I agree, and I'm not suggesting that the club would do anything as similarly treacherous. But I do wonder whether we could dig deep again. And no disrespect, Sam, but would you have the time to sniff out a story in the fanzine?

.

we would never actively go searching for a story that makes the club look bad, if we got a tip off then we'd look into it.

but i honestly doubt there's anything really dodgy going on - 'build a bonfire, put camillan on the top' ... hardly.

we're doing a 'sniff' on robert codner and the cocaine scandal for TSLR005, the club is a bit boring compared to that stuff.

Afternoon - just had a quick look at NSC and have to dash out in a minute -
but speaking personally if I heard of anything being done by anyone which was jeopardising the future of the Albion I can assure you that I would shout it from the bloody rooftops. And, more importantly, I am sure that Paul Samrah would most definitely do the same. Most of us have been involved in all this from the start of the Nineties (remember the Gulls Eye libel saga?) I don't do sycophancy. I do honestly believe the board have done and are doing everything in their power to get us Falmer, and I believe they will achieve that. Which is the most important thing. But not the only one.

The current state of the club on the pitch and the way we're playing at the moment is also obviously very important (and very irritating!) and although after everything we've been through I rather celebrate the fact that we have actually got the time (and the club!) to moan about a run of crap results/performances like normal football fans, I have to say I do bemoan the lack of a truly independent supporters' voice as we had in the BISA days. Although some people would say that is now NSC. NSC is certainly read by the powers that be and the media, but for those of us who hate sitting behind computers for hours and prefer good old face to face communication with people we can look at it's not really a substitute! Especially because anyone can post any old nonsense from behind the safety of a keyboard, with an anonymous username, secure in the knowledge that they won't be exposed to the howls of ridicule from fellow fans that they woudl get at a public meeting....

Interesting question.

Interesting question.

Or worse still, short shrift from the chairman to a perfectly reasonable question from a really good fan.

Pretty much EVERY lead campaigner in the wars years is now part of the 'inner circle'.

Imo, too many people just accept what's going on at the club these days (and use Falmer as an excuse).

I agree with you Wozza, and have thought it myself.

Whenever I hear Harty just supporting everything that he hears the club come out with, I can't help but think that if he had always been so accomodating, we may not have a club today.

Where, and who, are todays "Gulls Eye" activists, should we need them?

I couldn't agree more. The way some supporters blindly agree with everything that DK etc say now is astonishing.

I honestly believe that the current owners of the business, had they been in charge at some time before the Archer days would have a very rough ride from supporters.

The problem is the same arguement comes out everytime there is a problem, "these guys saved our club and therefore can do no wrong, if it wasn't for them we wouldn't have a club".

The same argument could probably be applied to a lot of the chairman we had before Archer, all of which got a lot more stick than the current crop.

As for whether there actually is any irregularities I very much don't think so. They are clearly not yet in a position to cover the finance of the stadium (see my unanswered question on Ask the club "Falmer Finance"), but if they haven't got it they haven't got it, so understandable that a response is not yet forthcoming.

But the general point about blind faith in the current owners is well made.
Couldn't agree more, sadly it seems there is a huge amount on here who are so protective of the chairman its unreal. Its as if most have been brainwashed or they all meet up at church etc in the evening.Knight has certainly been no better than anyother chairmans we have had.

What with the current fashion for docking clubs fifteen, twenty or thirty points for financial irregularities, it might be a good idea for the club to seriously focus on not getting relegated this season. Cos starting in League 2 with minus something points would kill the club off. Assuming there WERE ever found to be any serious irregularities at the club. Which there wouldn't. Obviously.

The only thing I can think of as being a financial irregularity cant happen to our club as games at Withdean are all ticket. I wonder how many clubs in Leagues 1 and 2 have occasional technical difficulties with their turnstiles in the away end when its cash on the gate. It would be easy to announce 900 visiting supporters instead of a 1000 and then £2k doesn't get counted.

What an odd comment.

I've rarely heard Dick Knight gush over Harty.

Of course, but as the old adage goes, keep your friends close and your enemies closer.

Who gave Harty a continued media presence after Lickergate? Oh yes, DK. While I don't think for one minute there is anything to worry about I do think that DK has done a great job in keeping all those that ousted the previous regime close to him.

Wozza if I found out Dick Knight was on the 'Nelson Riddle' I would have no hesitation in exposing him, and that could include a multitude of sins, involving anyone in senior postions at the club.

Lest you forget that less than 3 months before Gulls Eye exposed the Archer 'business dealings' we had sponsored two games at the club, and Bellotti had recieved a standing ovation at the GE dinner!

I say senior because some things you have to leave, in 1993 the Eye recieved a call from a young lady who had pulled an Albion first teamer in a night club, he went back to her gaff, and then did unspeakable things, some of which are still illegal to this day.

But his name remains under wraps...;)

Does anyone think that Tony Bloom is a gangster and that dark powers could therefore be taking over at Withdean? I mean, he does gamble and casinos are a haven for crime lords. The Krays used to own one. Maybe he's even related to them? Owe my god, the Albion are being run by the criminal underworld - ring the Argus, we're all doomed....:shootself:eek:

Quite right too.

Because young chaps never go out for a beer, meet up with a member of the fairer sex and proceed to express their 'approval 'of them later in the evening.

Never happens. Not in every town, in every part of the country nearly every night of the week.

But then, of course, I speak as one of the "inner circle". I "know things".

Apparently.

Maybe things have changed. But when I was still a Sussex resident I attended a few fans/board meetings and there was a whole load of stuff that I was told about that was to go no further.

In fact, it got to the point where I was uncomfortable with having to play that game, and so didn't attend any more, preferring to be a 'normal fan' without that 'inside' knowledge.

However, it was obvious that there were many folk who very much enjoyed being privvy to that kind of stuff, as if it made them feel special. Not for me, I'm afraid.

To be fair he wasn't that young and what she caught he doing under the covers in the morning would have put him up for Fashanuesque ridicule from the Goldstone faithful..........
