OK, OK there is a caveat...the bullets land at the same time only if the earth is flat. With a spherical earth, the fired bullet lands just a bit after the dropped bullet.Otherwise it must be true or gravity is false.

When you see a sniper or somesuch shooting stuff a mile away he has to adjust his deflection to take account of gravity so at 1000m will be actually aiming 60cm above the target. Obviously this is done by adjusting the scope to account for angle of trajectory
