A lot of graceless comments on here.

Well done to Palace a great result for them
Haha proving many of us wrong, hopefully he's put himself in the window enough to earn his move, before we play them.

Palace really are so anti football but it works for them and will keep them
In the league again the same way it did for us before we started our transition but United were awful. Palace have beaten two better football teams than them by playing this way so fair play to them.

Agreed. Certainly takes any glory off winning though - it’s not the same as playing football and winning but if they like lower mid table seasons year in, year out they’ll continue it. Few Palace fans I know have said any points they get just don’t feel right as a) they’ve cheated twice to get there and haven’t done it on merit and b) they play such turgid football they don’t feel like celebrating anymore false success.

I don't think they're "anti-football" really: just a bit dull most of the time. Their game is based on sitting back and waiting for a mistake, then breaking on the counter attack when the opponents leave a gap. If they're playing an attacking side, it often works for them. If they're playing a team with a similar ethos, or a relegation candidate, then they usually struggle because they have to try and change their entire mindset and go on the front foot. It's probably why their home record isn't very good, and why they don't score many goals (yes, I appreciate the irony of an Albion fan pontificating on another team's lack of goals). It's also why Hodgson's England were unsuccessful: they weren't good enough to beat the top teams, and flopped when they came up against dogged opponents like Iceland, who played Hodgson at his own game and basically Palace'd them in the Euros.

They're not as shit to watch as Burnley, for example (90 minute of hoofball and gamesmanship), or even as boring as Everton & Newcastle were last season. They're just...Palace.

Really ruining football these rules - goalkeeper foot off the line by an inch, striker's big toe offside, so tedious and absolutely spoiling the fun of the game.

Keepers have got away with It for years, tough. It should favour the taker.

Fair play to Palace, they had a game plan and they executed it to perfection.

The handball rules are a joke but the ref applied them. The keeper was off his line by a couple of inches, but that seems to be the case with most penalties. It will be interesting if the rules are enforced to the letter like this in every remaining Prem match.

Surely you can find some traditional French-style aluminium ones?

I dread to think how many midfield players they have, I think they still have Sanchez on the books and are paying half his salary even though he's on loan. However, this is still paid for by the hoards of Chinese fans who still think red is lucky !

They finally got rid of him this month, after he voluntarily agreed to forego £50m in wages due in his contract, for a £9m pay off.

Has one season of potterball given you delusions of grandeur?

With the likes of West Brom and Fulham about, Palace are not going down.
Therefore, delighted, nay ecstatic, that Man Ure lose at home.

Sadly Palace routinely get results like this on the road that we can only dream of. They're not particularly good, but they're streetwise and organised, with pace to burn going forward. We don't have that.
