There is a long term strategy and TB is putting in place guards against a shit or bust attitude which would put us back a few years if it didn't work. It's tough at the moment with the defeat against you and the problems that have arisen with Gus. Long term I think we'll be fine and what is being put in place at the moment will hopefully ensure a bright if not stunning progress in the immediate future. I accept that there may be problems that none of us are aware of but there is nothing to panic about at the moment unless something much more ominous comes to light.

It is incredibly frustrating of course as what looked like such a great season went totally pear shaped after the last game both on and off the field.

Again, I don't disagree with anything you say - but just that the sneering of Wigan is a little wide of the mark.

I think it's got more to do with Gus oft quoted " I'll only leave for a big club" comments and the fact that he's been linked to Wigan. However you dress it up Wigan are not and never will be a big club.

Sure, how about contribute to the debate with something of substance rather than attempt to score points with tiresome personal shots?

Us - growing club with big gates (at the moment) and potential.
Wigan - very small club with Prem money and squad.

If Wigan fail to bounce back straight away they could be in REAL trouble. Same as you the season after next!

You know what it really reminds me of? A certain Mr. Greedman saying 'I never leave a job half finished' :)

Whey hey! It's been quiet for a week, almost sensible, but it's back...2+2=5, special source, bookies wisdom, roll up roll up exclusive thread!

So, at the moment and for the next couple of years, both sides have a roughly equal chance of going up.

I presume the comment about Palace being in trouble was in jest, and accord it the hearty guffaw it deserves.

Here, there and everywhere
Poyet's behaviour and thinking can't have been helped by Di Canio waltzing into a Premier League managerial role

Doesn't look like it will be Wigan....

Steve McClaren and Owen Coyle are Wigan's top candidates for manager role

By Jack Gaughan

PUBLISHED: 16:30 EST, 12 June 2013 | UPDATED: 16:30 EST, 12 June 2013

Wigan see Steve McClaren and Owen Coyle as the top two candidates to succeed Roberto Martinez and the club hope to make an announcement on Thursday.

McClaren, who was sacked by Nottingham Forest in 2011, was lined up to replace Martinez last summer when it looked as though the Spaniard would join Liverpool.

The former England boss is believed to have the edge over Coyle, who left Bolton Wanderers in October.

Owner Dave Whelan has revealed he wanted to focus on managers who are out of work, which seemingly rules out Gus Poyet, on gardening leave at Brighton, MK Dons’ Karl Robinson and Charlton’s Chris Powell.

‘I have tried to stay away from managers who are in work at the moment because there is a fee involved with those,’ Whelan said.

‘There are plenty of excellent managers who are looking for a job. There are quite a few well-known lads out there.

‘We will be finished interviewing today. I’ve told the ones I’ve already spoken to that there will be a decision made tomorrow.’

Whelan is confident of having a deal concluded before he goes to Barbados this weekend.

No Malaga, no Wigan- looks increasingly likely we are going to have to pay Poyet off unless we have some pretty serious grounds to just sack him on.

If Owen Coyle gets the job over him Poyet must be wondering where the next job offer is going to come from

I imagine that's more to do with money then anything else, I'm sure if Poyet was a free agent he'd be preferred iver Coyle. I mean Coyle? ****ing hell...
