And I'm not going to be a liar, but certainly a muttered curse under the breath when a player has mucked up isn't the same as shouting out some abuse at them as loud as you, can even if they haven't done anything wrong.

Well, well done to you if you have never shouted at a player in frustration, am sure there are others, but most of us have.

this is a very good exercise in judging the mood of people.

For my tupennyworth, I am concerned that MM thinks that the players he has in the team playing out of position are better than specialist players in the squad. ie Reid and hart playing at Full back.

It doesn't take rocket science to work out that Tanks turning circle has got larger over the years...that is a fact of life, and people who have been brought through the ranks as full backs can read this and will compensate. That is what we need. Reid and Harty do not have the experience to do this.

I personally do not think we would be having this discussion if we were half way up the table....a draw at Cardiff is a great result if you are half way up....when you are fighting for your lives at the wrong end of the table winning becomes the b and end of all!!!

Now we have lost Mcshane, thoughts switch to El Abd and Tank in the middle...Dodds seems to be injury prone and we have a midfielder at full back ( reid)

Now I venture an opinion ( and yes tank, I have only managed NSC Albion and was pretty shit at that) , that we are woefully short in defence now. We have no recognised full backs ( wonders why we were so quick to let Harding and Watson go) a young and head strong Centre back ( el abd) and Tank to hold it all together. And I am not that struck on Blaney's positioning.....

Football is all about opinions and perceptions...it is not an exact science.

Good points Dave, and I agree with most of it, although Reid did prove himself to be a good right back last year. I am sure MM wants to get some extra cover for the defence, but suspect that players are not exactly queueing up to join the Albion because of comparatively poor wages, and inadequate training facilities.

Disappointing lack of abuse though:jester:

If a smiley is all you can offer I would say the cap fits you sir.

I think TFH has been flamed somewhat harshly on here, but he has stuck up for himself well.

Been great reading.

I couldnt be arsed to expand, sorry. I accept that he has stood by his views and I respect that, but his criticism of McCammon was harsh, and I didnt agree with his views.

Dave, some would argue that having Mayo and Butters on the same side of the pitch would leave us very vulnerable to pace, as at least Reid is not slow even if its not his natural position.

But tell him that in words, rather than from behind a keyboard calling him a wanker via smileys. It just seems pointless.

Fair enough.

Right then!

I can't be arsed to read past the first 4 pages of this thread so this might have already been said.

Guy, you probably already know this and i don't want to sound patronising but you can't let yourself be drawn into a slanging match with an insignificant minority of people whose memory only stretches to the last match, no matter how angry they make you. When the gaffer is having a go at you is the time to take notice I suppose, oh yeah and when the crowd start getting on your back, but i can't see that happening. I'm not saying you don't have a right to reply but please bare in mind that the things that are said on here do not represent in any way the majority of supporters in the slightest.

Both you, the management and most of the intelligent fans with a pair of eyes know what you have contributed to our cause.

Indeed, much like all abuse of players and, in this particular instance, his OTT abuse of McCammon. It contributes nothing of interest except as an excuse for spatting on here, which I know some people find amusing :)

Sorry, how on earth did this thread get onto the subject of my views on Mark McCammon?!

I have to say I'd never realised before this thread how much I've pissed London Irish off in the past! I always thought he was just arguing for something to do, I didn't realise how deeply he'd taken it all.

It's funny, everyone else is talking about whether I am correct in the view that people should be 'allowed' to criticise the team. Poor old London Irish comes on and is just glad to have a go at me for anything and will always bring McCammon into it, regardless of how relevant.

I think it might have something to do with the fact you are not as in the wrong as some have painted you. So good old Steve has tried to bring the argument back around to McCammon in an attempt to make you look stupid and small minded. Just a guess.

My biggest issue with this thread is the title....!!

I've only read the last 4 pages, and frankly IMO it borders embarrassing. The TEAM is responsible for how we defend, not just the back four, the same as the TEAM is responsible when we score.

Everybody is entitled to an opinion, of course, but jees, some of the stuff being written on this thread is no good to the cause AT ALL.

Its not just about the crap aimed at Tank, there has been thread after thread lately about how rubbish a lot of the other players are, like Jake, CKR, Kerry, Charlie, and McCammon gets it regardless. Its been constant recently and I'm not talking about genuine opinions or preferences, I'm talking about the put downs and sniping. Its just not good to see.

Agree 100%.:clap2: :clap2: :clap2:

I even agree with what London Irish is saying, what next.

this is silly. we ALL know what a rock Guy has been for us over the past few seasons and yes he may have been a little slow on the 2nd goal, but with his age comes a little more slowness, but we get the experience.

it's a football forum with the main content being about our team. i think it would be ridiculous if we could comment of good and bad performances, but i can understand some comments do get too offensive.

I personally wouldnt gun down anyone that plays for us. Unless they really deserved it.

f*** knows where im going with this, but hey kiss and make up. I for one like the fact some of our players come on here and read our comments full stop. Cant see many players doing that.

My mate is a STH at Bury, there are seasoned pro's there on £300-400 a week, on 1 year contracts, with no guarantee of a job at the end of the season, and families to support.

That is the reality of being a professional footballer, unless you are one of the chosen few.

John Piercey retired at the age of 25 from the game last year, that is also the reality of the game. Gerry Ryan, an Albion legend, had his career disappear in a single slice by that cockjuggler Henry Hughton, again an example of football reality.

It is not all supermodels (no offence Race) Bentleys and million pound image right deals for having your face on a shit computer game.

Shit, if thats the case, im not giving up my job ive got now to become a pro footballer !!!!!!!! (and im sure at my age all the clubs would be wanting to sign me !!! :lolol: :lolol: :lolol: :lolol:
