I think you're getting bogged down with details. How can limiting the number of smilies in one post make NSC in anyway a better site? And it won't stop the one smilie posts that annoy you.
I quite like the idea of a maximum number of new threads, say 5, in any given day for any poster. This number could be reduced for individuals who start 5 threads of shite everyday (you can probably guess who I have in mind).

Thats LI f***ed then, he will be unable to do a thud smilie to emphasise how stupid you are in the same post as a laughing smilie after one of his jokes (I use the term losely, anyone who laughs at their own jokes or has to flag up that it is a joke usually isn't telling a funny one).

It sounds like details but the smilies do make trawling through a thread annoying just as much as threads of complete cack - eg lets count in roman numerals!! just my opinion though...

Ok yellow cards good!

On the other hand conflict and or banter should neither in themselves be a bannable offence? Thats why I was suggesting a list of offences and a reason being posted for the ban? Do you think that'd be possible?

Possibly. I'm just trying to consider what would be on that list though? 'Bouncing', 'Flaming'..

I think its pretty much the same. As others have pointed out if its a little stagnant at the moment its probably due to the fact that:

its been a bad season
its the close season
we STILL dont have a decision on Falmer
some members post too much cr*p

Sussex, by the sea
lets face it, written content was better pre smiliey/avatar etc

it also made it much better for work ( 99% of my time ) when you had management who could sneak up behind you whilst you weren't necessarily 'grafting hard'
