Age boundaries for drinking, cigarettes and porn is all about education. Illegal drugs and so on and so forth. All societies need education. Those that didn't failed. I.e. The Romans, Greeks and so on.

Proof of purchase in this thread. Those that are anti the choice of a meat-free Monday clearly don't want to be educated. None of them have considered why the meat-free day has been put in place.

Really? Age boundaries are enforced state censorship and these have moved plenty of times over the years, a couple of years ago you had to be 16 to smoke fags now its 18.........in fact a couple of years ago you could smoke in a pub now you can't.

You see that the education of the masses by politicians (and the state) is positive, I see it as totalitarianism.

We will never agree.

How is saying "you can't eat meat on monday" any different to "no alcohol consumption at work"?

As I said Communism

Without meaning to deride your deeply held beliefs, Communism is a political and economic system whereby common ownership of the means of production frees the workers from the bonded work slavery. I don't recall reading that Marx or Engels gave too much thought to the pros and cons of a pork pie for lunch. I'd say that enforced diets of rocket and grilled tofu is more your typical fascist hippy ideology.

This obsession with Caroline Lucas is a bit embarrassing, you know? Either ask the woman out on a date or leave the poor girl alone, you sad little man.

I am against the so called 'meat free Monday' as I come from a long line of Pork Butchers. She is trying to install some sort of compulsory diet into our lives. How long before this becomes present in schools as well as council offices.

I will fight TOOTH AND NAIL to stop any kind of infiltration of these HEALTH NAZIS into our children's school diets.

Who's with me??

NO TO HEALTHY MEAL CHOICES IN OUR CHILDREN'S SCHOOLS!!

Its not just about the meat eating situation. She bleats on about events in the town and how the residents are ALL excited about the propsals the Greens are making. Most people I have spoken with or read comments from, are dreading this Green Administration.

Oh dear, and you don't ? Why is it that you go out of your way to be an idiot ? Frankly if you're a typical Tory then Green seems a better bet to me.

Smoking is not a good example, smoking harms other people's health unlike eating meat, the fact that smoking has been banned in pubs is to accommodate the wishes of people who don't smoke. Of course it could be argued that it will now encourage people to go into pubs to have a drink and become alcoholics, well to HB&B and his ilk anyway.

That interview seemed like the usual stuff, not sure what was supposed to be embarrassing.
Meat free Monday though, what's that all about? Surely they can't be telling council workers what they can and can't eat.

Maybe. or maybe he understands what word's actually mean.

You constantly use communism as a catch all term for things you don't like. You may think you're politically aware but you come across like a stroppy ten year-old

That is what I find embarrassing the representatives of my town dictating what people can or cannot do. Plus the fact she cow tailed to Meyer when he slagged off Brighton for basically being a concrete environment. No mention from her about Regency splendour or extensive parks and gardens. Just a mumbled reference to the festhival , as she calls it. Which she probably read about on line anyway. Lepper would have wax lyrical about Brighton's heritage until they shut him up. The mad old socialist.

No, communism is a process where economic and social activity is controlled by one elected or otherwise entity. in so far that is discourages and dissolves any other kind of democratic thought or suggestion.

What next ? She'll have cyclists banned from the promenade ? So you object to 'the representatives of my town dictating what people can or cannot do'. So in other words you'd rather that traffic wardens allowed people to park where and when they they liked ? You'd prefer to not force people to pay council tax ?
