We did atest on a customers site recently and of the 3000 users, 25% of them had "letmein" or its derivative as their password...:lolol: :lolol: :lolol: :lolol:

letmein was the default password on the old dos sage accounting software.

The reason I was surprised was after Tedebear was pissed off that someone had tampered with her signiture she also said are you reading our PM's as well. The response was something along the lines that only Bozza or Nail z Gull had the capabilities to do it and that it was quite technical. Nail Z Gull comes on and says that no moderator activity had happened of that sort during that period and that someone else must have accessed her computer or hacked in.

Of course the clued up mod only had to look up the password :lolol:

I have set our AS400's to say that when you change your password ( every 18 days) you cannot use the same letters in the same position until 25 gos have elapsed ie seagulls cannot be changed to letmein.( the e is in the same position)
f***ing IT security bastards!!!!

One of the systems I use cannot have the same letter appear in the password anymore than once, and must be 8 characters long. It must also contain a number, and not at the end.

Passwords would "porbably" be encrypted into some sort of hexidecimal code. Or it was in the PHP board I used to run.

at work my password started as 'password1' and goes up by one number every time it needs to be changed (monthly).

for persoanal passwords i tend to use the reg number of the first car I had (which was nicked and written off within a week of me owning it )

You can see our passwords?
No.

But it is possible to Search for Users who use a specified password.

Where that password is "the bleedin' obvious", the result of the search reveals just how many NSC Users have a rather insecure presence on the board.

What a load of shit. You posted some crap, admit it and move on. How can anyone fall for this?

Students can't afford class A on a weeknight.

You should have gone to Middlesex Uni. Every night a drugular compendium, bodies found in nearby skips, late-night munchie-grabbers mugged on Tottenham High Road and European hardcore porn on the telly in my local pool-hall.
Great days, probably still going.

Is it a proper uni, or a poly? If the latter, then I'm not at all suprised.

What Lord B is saying is...

1. Passwords are not visible to any moderator or administrator.

2. The admin panel includes a 'Find user' tool where almost any criteria can be used to locate a user or group of users. I didn't know this was one of the search items until just now (it's a long list of criteria) and the number of users with passwords such as 'brighton', 'seagulls' or 'albion' is pretty high.

3. PMs can't be read by any of us. Still.
