Mail - Ardiles to replace McGhee ...

BensGrandad said:
I accept what you are saying about disabled etc but for a club that is 'strapped for cash' I cannot see the need to improve the changing rooms as I have said they have been adequate for the past 6 years so another 2 or 3 years wouldnt have mattered either way so why spend the money.

After all we are leaving Withdean soon aren't we?
The reason we will be able to leave Withdean and move to Falmer is that the Club have kept the City Council on board throughout this long struggle.

Without that support, we would be dead.

Withdean is owned by the Council, who have been under tremendous pressure from the Athletics Clubs to maintain and develop the permanent facilities that they will be using for many years.

Effective partnership working is the only realistic way forward. The Albion Board know how essential it is to demonstrate that the Club is a good partner in this sort of relationship. The spin-off benefit is enormous - since, as a good partner with a track record, we will get things like the economic development grants that are on offer for East Brighton projects. And those grants make Falmer affordable.

Meanwhile, Albion chairman Dick Knight has dismissed as "total nonsense" a Sunday newspaper story suggesting Ossie Ardiles is about to take over from McGhee.

There could, however, be a link between Ardiles and future investment in the Seagulls. Talksport radio presenter Alan Brazil, a former Tottenham team-mate of Ardiles, claims to know a wealthy ex-player interested in putting money into the club.

Knight said: "I believe it is distinctly probable that all sorts of people who have had successful careers, like Ardiles, would be interested in Albion when we get our stadium."

I have to argue on this

McCammon - hit , when he came in he turned the season round and was MOM against Sunderland and was the difference on why we stayed up.
I look at Iwelumo scoring a cracker again on Saturday and he was let go but we waste £100k plus on some Argie unknown

F*cking hell, this is absolute dross....

Never mind the new signings, who are still bedding down in to this football club, what about our two worst players this Saturday, Kerry Mayo and Charlie Oatway? who by the way, in case anybody had forgotten, were not signed by McGhee.

Thank you for the explanation.

Just one question which may appear stupid or cynical but it is not meant to be either.

Dick Knight changed the rules so that no 1 person could own and control the club, when the new company is formed to build Falmer could one person buy that company a la Malcolm Glazier and change the rules again to suit them selves.

That is an interesting observation - particularly on the back of the news last week that the big money backer is a "former player" .... just how wealthy is Ossie? Do his family own the Falkland Islands of something?

Poor chap is colour blind as well. The Palookaville kit is navy not black and therefore does clash with Palace colours. And we do have three official kits.

http://www.northstandchat.biz/showthread.php?threadid=56425

You have missed the point as is convenient for the blinkered few.

The club knew of this problem from the moment the fixtures came out and it was announced about Palace's centenary kit of all white that would only be used occassionally an d obviously they refused to wear that kit for the match against us. Last season we hada yellow kit and the Poolakaville kit which was very navy blue and as near to black as could be seen under lights why could we not have worn one of those kits for 1 match or as a better idea bring out a completely different colour kit as a third kit and sell it as normal and make the extra money. Obviously we do not need the extra revenue that would have brought in.

Lastly the Palookaville kit with white shorts and socks would not have clashed with Palace in any way as they wear blue and Red with blue socks and shorts I believe apart from their centenary kit of white with blue and red stripes.

Ardilles was a dreadful manager at Spurs!

He played a 0-0-10 formation with a rush goalie!

It ain't gonna happen!

That's the way football was meant to be played. He'd have used a tennis ball if it were allowed. Jumpers for goalposts.

Do you ever do anything but moan you miserable old C U N T!!!!?

If you don't like the idea of a one off shirt then fine don't bother buying one. There will be people who do like the idea and want to buy it, if it brings in the club a few extra quid then thats even better.

Some people are so thick they do not even understand simple English.

IF THE CLUB HAD BOUGHT OUT A THIRD KIT FROM DAY ONE OF THE SEASON THEY WOULD HAVE SOLD HUNDREDS GIVING THEM MORE THAN A FEW BOB.

Yet again you are twisting the facts to suit your own agenda against the board of this club. Just get over the fact that your so called consortium or whatever it was failed all those years ago and move on. Being a bitter twisted old man is not a desirable quality. I am certainly glad you aint my Grandad.

The club have already have 3 kits for this season. The Blue and White home kit which is in its last season, the Maroon away kit and the palookaville third kit.

How could they have known that Palace's kits would clash with ours and they would be forced to come up with a new kit, without having prior knowledge of the kits Palace would be using this season?

On top of that your suggestion hasnt been releasing a third kit at the start of the season, it's been re-using the Yellow kit, something that won't sell as everyone who wants one will have one. At least this idea will bring in a few extra quid.

You call me blinkered you silly old foo?

The yellow kit had already outlived it's date.
Navy blue does clash with the Palace blue in their shirts.
They also have the right as home club to choose what colour they wear.
The Albion fans voted which away strip we wanted this year (whilst Palace were still in the Premiership) with a choice of green/black and maroon. We chose maroon (which clashes with the Palace top)
Referees won't allow clubs with vertical stripes (of whatever colour) to play because they are similar so therefore we are getting a one off strip.
I won't be buying one because all of my money has gone on a ticket for Selhurst but good luck to all those who do want to buy one and good luck to the club for making a bit of extra money.
