"The government have now given the go ahead to the stadium at Falmer, on the same regeneration grounds as last time. The public inquiry system seems to be rigged in favour of the Secretary of State, who can not only make or change the rules, but can it seems choose and change inspectors. We are now waiting for legal advice to see if there are grounds for a challenge in the High Court."

Also taken from FPC website. This was the costs (as they them) from the last time they appealed following Prescotts decision

"The legal action, if we lose, will cost £60000. The Society of Sussex Downsmen and South Downs Conservation board have both pledged £5000. We are paying half the costs along with Lewes District Council. This means we need to find £25,000. We have already raised £15,000, and so need to find another £10,000. We need to raise this money before we go to court. This will probably not be before June next year. The strange thing about these appeals is that if we win, and I think we will, the government have to pay our costs. We pay nothing. If we lose we pay their costs."

So, the Sussex Downsmen and SD Conservation board probably could probably only muster the same amount of £10k between them this time too. So FPC would need to find £50k if the costs remain about the same. Seeing as they struggled to find half of that last time, I think they are fu*k*d.

They may moan and bl;eat and cry its all so unfair, but the sharp economic realities will hit them hard now that their cash cow of LDC has withdrawn.

Well, that has brightened my day up. Here's hoping that this time I don't fall off my bike and smash any more teeth!!

It was nice to see the LDC spokesman being so disingenuous at the end. I fail to see how the decision is still "flawed" (if it genuinely was they'd be challenging), or how the planning process has failed, as I think that the one thing this whole saga has proved is that it is genuinely VERY difficult to gain planning permission for developments in an AONB - even when the site consists only of brown field and low-grade arable land!

Well done everyone, but be vigilant for a while longer.

Sorry to sound like Withdean Wanderer but... for me, there is one bad apple in the whole approval process.

Despite the fact that this is fantastic news, and that we should be celebrating - and that we WILL be celebrating - it gives me a royal pain in the arse to think that despite them wanting to destroy the Albion, telling lies about the immediate environment, insulting the supporters, insulting the residents of Moulsecoomb, lied to their constituents, wanting to clog up the streets of Brighton & Hove, not accepting the reality of the facts of the case, and generally behaving in a manner unbecoming of a local authority or a parish council, we have to 'build bridges' with them.

Ultimately, it is the right thing to do, but these fuckers are going to financially, socially and educationally benefit from a stadium which they claim they don't want, having indirectly cost the club £30m of revenue that we can never get back, without paying a penny towards the cost of it, all the while endeavouring to deny the existence of one of the central and fundamental pillars of any community - a football club.

But I expect I'll get over it.

Scenes to marvel at.

We're getting there, closer and closer. I can't let myself believe it's 100% just yet - but that just means we should have yet another celebration in 5 weeks.
