He made it plain he wanted to get to Balotelli. Micah Richards & 2 QPR staff stopped him.

Wish they hadn't got in the way!!!

Whilst not keen to spring to Barton's defence here - he really has let himself & everyone at his club down badly - how do you work out that he wanted to "get to Balotelli" ?

Has he been saying silly things on twatter again ?, because from the footage it looks to me like Balotelli is the one trying to get in Barton's face, coming off the bench and following him down the tunnnel an' all. Micah Richards comes out of it with the most credit.

Oh my god, listen to you lot. It was great theatre, he is a pantomime villain! Never had the rest mist descend over you? He didn't kill anyone, it was all handbags. Tevez went down like a sack of shit.

This!
I f**king hate Tevez. He's taken the piss out of city with his behaviour this season, and yet there he was prancing around the pitch with the premier league trophy at the end.
Its a joke, I hope its the last we see of that ugly little t*at in English football.

Not fishing at all. I genuinely believe that if he got his anger issues sorted out he would be a cracking addition to our team. If we had to take one player from QPR i would pick Joey. Good old Bobby Z was fairly anonymous in the game today.

two players - both (reportedly) on £80K a week - madness innit!

3 red card offences in as many minutes, I am impressed Joey, I had hopes you could do it but never imagined it would really happen. Congrats! You've earned a well deserved break from the first 10 games next season!

for me Tezez was 6 and half a dozen either way, a footballing incident (players needling each other for a reaction). the real issue is his unprovocated, malicious kneeing of Agreuo, clearly intent to injure. more than handbags and should face a long ban and the sack for that.

It gets better abnd better - quoted on QPR site as having deliberately tried to get one of MCFC's players sent off (presumably Agurro or Kompany)

But the midfielder also insisted he did not deserve to be dismissed and revealed he tried to get a City player sent off as well. Barton saw red for elbowing Carlos Tevez and then kneed Sergio Aguero, an incident which sparked a mass confrontation.

"Can do nothing but apologise to the players and the fans. Still don't think its a sending off. Tried to take 1 of their players with me..." Barton wrote on Twitter.

He continued: "The head was never gone at any stage, once I'd been sent off, one of our players suggested I should try to take 1 of theirs with me..."

"...Never worked but god loves a trier. #reallynotbother #wearesafe."

Should be worth a few extra games on an already lengthy ban. Moronic. A disgrace to his club and his sport

I cannot work out which one of his actions was an attempt to get an opponent sent off though. Am I missing something?

Yeah, Ageuro was a silly target he's always going to collapse rather than fight back and Kompany with his giant forehead probably didn't even feel Barton's tiny head make the contact. Ballotelli was his most likely victim but by then he was being escorted off by 3 people and of course Ballotelli was still warming up anyway!

.........but I'm in trouble for calling QPR a dirty scummy little club  It seems we are supposed to be supportive of opposition clubs and their fans who post on here. Unfortunately, when I started watching the Albion they were genuine rivals - much more so than Palace - and as I lived in London I developed a real dislike for them. The fact that they signed Barton knowing his back story and have a somewhat chequered recent financial history (plus their very shoddy treatment of Warnock - I'm no great fan of Colin's but he did a fair job and I reckon would have kept them up more readily than Hughes) all combines to make me less than complementary and far from magnanimous towards them. The only good news is that they - and their vastly escalated pricing structure - won't be gracing the Championship next season. In a more perfect world Barton wouldn't be (dis)gracing a football pitch either :)

i) you're not in trouble
ii) you don't have to be supportive at all, try not being quite so offensive
iii) have we ever been genuine rivals? Played in the same division yes but genuine rivals?
iv) I think Warnock signed Barton because i) he was available on a free at a time when Tango & Cash wouldn't give him money to buy players ii) on his day he can be a decent footballer as seen particularly in recent home games iii) he felt he could calm him down and get the best out of him as he did with Taarabt
v) chequered financial history? If you're talking about administration, I think we're the only club to come out of administration worse off than when we went in. If you're talking about Faurlingate, nothing to see there guv, just a bit lacking in the admin.
vi) shoddy treatment of Warnock? We agree on something! . He worked wonders pulling us to safety and then promotion the following season despite the goings on in the background. He had just over a week in August when he had money to spend on players and he met the target he was given by the board ie out of the relegation zone come January. I think he should have been given the whole season ... Shame is we'll never know if he'd have kept us up but he should have been given the opportunity.
vii) no issues with the pricing structure. Prices were reduced when Tango and Cash left. If people want to pay stupid money to see the big boys, let them. I'm quite happy with £35-40 to watch the lower category games.
viii) As for Barton, I think his days could be numbered. We may try and sack him, we may try and negotiate paying him off but I don't see how he can stay. He's already had 1 red this season so it will be a 4 match ban for elbowing Tevez and the rest depends on how the FA deal with it. If they treat the kick and headbutt as separate counts of violent conduct that has to be 5 games for the kick and 6 for the headbutt plus anything else they want to throw in. If they treat it as one, it should be at least 9 games.

Be interesting to see if they take a closer look at the involvement of the Man City players but I doubt it. As others have said the only one to come out of it with any credit is Micah Richards.

do us a favor, watch it again, his face scrwed up in rage he attacks the first city player he sees as revenge. he wasnt trying to take a player with him as a booking but an injury.

I interpreted 'take one with me' as injuring one, rather than getting one sent off, but could be either way? The kick looked like an attempt at giving Aguero a dead leg more than getting him to fight him.

if you aren't being rhetorical, you are missing that he is lieing to cover what he knows was stupid behaviour. he lost the plot and lashed out twice, now wants to claim he was in control.
