While we're on the subject, I'm intrigued as to why many (straight...at least outwardly) blokes are so obsessed with the whole idea of what gay men do with each other.

I wouldn't mind betting that a massive percentage of the same straight men have, at one time or another, asked their wives/girlfriends for the very same thing they deride gay guys for. Just look at these threads.

Weird, isn't it?

I think the actual act is irrelevant. I enjoy kissing my wife, and I can assure you I wouldn't enjoy kissing any bloke, let alone doing anything else with/to them.

How very dare you.
I have NEVER asked my wife to colour-coordinate the duvet and curtains with the upholstery. I am quite capable of deciding on that for myself.

You've never been invited to one of the Meade's_Ball Butternutt Squash Risotto nights. They're a blinkingly tasty dish and i doubt you'd leave without given me a peck on all four cheeks.

Edna isn't the first to consider this, there's been some serious studies done into this and it's been concluded that homophobic men are the ones most aroused by gay porn. Check this link to a report detailing just that if you do not believe me. Word of caution though, it's got some long words in there

Homophobic Men Most Aroused by Gay Male Porn | Psychology Today

I think there is a difference, classically, between being homophobic and just being a bigoted twat. I think this is one of the problems. This report is pretty simplistic. I'd happily sit through gay porn fairly confident there'd be no signs of arousal, because, in truth, i'm not remotely bothered what the two men are getting up to and it does nothing for me. Homophobes will be aroused for the exact opposite reason. It has an effect on them, hence them being homophobic and not just a bigot. I'm pretty sure your bog standard middle-aged, white, racist, fat misogynist would not show any sign of being aroused.
I dunno, the idea that men who discriminate homosexuals are somehow closet homosexuals themselves just doesn't rub. Of course, there'll be a few, but on the whole the vocal discriminators aren't homophobic, they're just ill-educated, insecure bullies and bigots. This week they'll be calling us 'queer', next week they'll be calling an Indian a 'paki'.

 For the confused on here (no, not sexually, FFS) THAT is a funny response, and I don't believe one that the various gay posters on here would take offence at. Do you see where I'm coming from now?

Inferring to an Indian that they are from Pakistan is probably the ultimate insult as historically they don't get on too well...the irony is that 'paki' means clean or pure in Urdu.

Not the real one
How many fans sing chants/give banter to the opposition fans as a compliment? Not many. I don't remember singing any chants at Birmingham about how good BCFC were, or how lovely their home town is. I do remember singing that "Birmingham's a shithole; I wanna go home", and that their "support is f*cking sh*t" - both are obviously insults, even if they're not intended to offend (instead being intended as banter).

The point isn't how offensive I find it that someone is suggesting I have a boyfriend. The point is that the underlying basis to the chants is the idea that being gay is a bad thing.

It seems strange to have to point this out to opposition fans in 2011, but it isn't.

It seems odd to compare these chants to sheepshagger chants (or similar); calling someone a sheepshagger is an insult, as being a sheepshagger is a bad thing.

Oh, absolutely, it was just my clumsy way of trying to highlight that all this stuff comes from stupidity more than anything else.

Homophobic Men Most Aroused by Gay Male Porn | Psychology Today

Yes I remember a tv program about that, they studied on about 200 men in the usa, half of which were guys that answered a newspaper ad saying they could sit through gay porn with no arousal at all as they were comfortable with their sexuality. The other 100 answered an ad about homophobia, saying that they wanted proof that it was unnatural and that homosexual behaviour should be banned again.
They hooked them up to monitors and got a full reading of reaction, only about 5-7% were aroused from the first group, over 10 times that amount for the homophobic group.

I always suspected this anyway.

Steady on TT, quiche is ok on occasions but I'm a man who likes his meat. Or a quality mince at least.
