Agree Simon...you could buy a decent caravan with the extra cash.He might earn an extra £100k per year at Palace if he can get it, but after paying higer rate income tax and national insurance contribtions (52%+) he would only be better off by around £50k per year "netto" at best. House prices and living expenses (council tax etc) will be higher in London, and travelling around in his more expensive car will take longer because of the congestion and traffic queues. Sometimes quality of life is better than a few extra pounds in the pocket.
