Different pre season I think. San Diego was definitely the only game we saw and we were taken to the Sea World place as a sort of compensation .

Definatly the same pre season, May 1979 after promotion to Div 1. I remember being taken to Sea World as compo as well by Panorama Holidays. The two big kerfuffles on that trip were Mullery and Bamber banning the players from mixing with us because they all got drunk in the hotel bar in Anaheim on the first night. John Vinicome brokered a peace deal so we could meet up with the players in The Swiss Cottage, Las Vegas about 10 days later. It's also where I celebrated my 18th birthday, so I have very vivid memories of this.
The other kerfuffle was staying in a motel by Las Vegas airport and then being moved to the Union Plaza by The Golden Nugget Casino due to protests by the antique dealers in the group...... Anaheim(LA), Lake Tahoe, Las Vegas, San Diego (day trip to Tijuana) San Francisco and home.
Obviously if you didn't go with Panorama Holidays, we will have different memories, but we defiantly played California Surf in a small municipal athletics stadium (sign of things to come). They gave us a cheer leader to help us sing:lolol: I bought a California Surf polo shirt and I have pics, albeit on a very small Kodak Instamatic at night:) .

So, realistically, is this what we have in terms of senior pros likely to be in contention for the starting XI in the Premier League*?

* Position-flexibility aside, such as March being pushed forward etc

Goalkeeper
1. Sanchez ( HGP )

Back Five
U21. Lamptey
3. March ( HGP )
4. Cucurella
5. Veltman
6. Burn ( HGP )
7. Webster ( HGP )
8. Dunk ( HGP )
9. Duffy ( HGP )

Holding Midfield
11. Mwepu
12. Bissouma
13. Moder
14. Alzate ( HGP )

Attacking Midfield / Number 10
15. Lallana ( HGP )
16. Groß
17. Mac Allister
18. Trossard

Strikers
19. Maupay
20. Welbeck ( HGP )
U21. Connolly

Any reason you've left out Richards who played 20 minutes of our last Premier League game? I wouldn't be surprised if he ended up playing as many minutes as Alzate and Connolly.

Final Squad ? - perhaps several other u21s will make the bench in this period up til the Jan window given there are now 9 places.
And obviously all bets are off for make up of team for Swansea/Carabao Cup. Expect Moran, Sarmiento, Ferguson to be in the frame for the bench.

1. Sanchez ( HGP )
2. Steele ( HGP )
U21. Scherpen
U21. Lamptey
3. March ( HGP )
4. Cucurella
5. Veltman
6. Burn ( HGP )
7. Webster ( HGP )
8. Dunk ( HGP )
9. Duffy ( HGP )
U21. Roberts
10. Băluţa
11. Mwepu
12. Bissouma
13. Moder
14. Alzate ( HGP )
15. Lallana ( HGP )
16. Groß
17. Mac Allister
U21. Richards
18. Trossard
19. Maupay
20. Welbeck ( HGP )
U21. Connolly
21. Locadia
22. [Dicker]

Loanees: Bull (Merstham), Jenks (Aberdeen), Cochrane (Hearts), Longman (Hull City), Weir (Cambridge United), Clarke (WBA), Rushworth (Walsall), Arce (LDU Quito), Mitoma (USG), Østigård (Stoke City), Andone (Cadiz)*, Molumby (WBA)*, Karbownik (Olympiacos)*, Van Hecke (Blackburn), Zeqiri (FC Augsburg), Walton (Ipswich), Khadra (Blackburn) , Sima (Stoke City), Caicedo ( Beerschot), Dendoncker (St Johnstone)

Sales Izquierdo (Released), Propper (PSV), Mlakar (Hadjuk Split), Bernardo (Salzburg), Yapi (Vitesse), Ryan (Real Sociedad), Jahanbakhsh (Feyenoord), White (Arsenal), Tau (Al Ahly)

* Loan to buy option[

Tsoungai and (especially) Leonard are probably equally likely would be my guess.

We didn’t go with Panorama holidays and had a very different time. I don’t think we even knew there was another set of supporters there. We stayed in the Hollywood Roosevelt for the entire trip apart from a quick trip to San Francisco which we organised. Happy memories

Ahh, that makes sense, although we did spend a night or maybe 2 in The Hollywood Roosevelt. I remember it being the original Oscars venue. Took pictures of Capitol Records on the hill outside the window. Panorama shoved us in a chartered Greyhound coach and shipped us all over the shop from hotel to hotel. You are right, fantastic memories.

Yep. I get a sense that Locadia is intended to be part of this list whatever "getting him up to speed" means. (or that might be code for - playing him in cups only)

(and Leonard, Richards, Tsongui, Roberts must be the u21s likely to breakthrough given 9 on the bench and Richards has already made his debut. but of course not senior pros and currently assuming no injury nightmare unlikely to be starting)

I’d say the same thing about Roberts.

He has the talent to be first choice at LCB by the end of the season. With Dunk & White next to him, he could produce the same sort of attacking threat as White did last season. I’m pretty sure he’d have been loaned out again if the club were not confident in his ability and level. A break-through season ahead? Fingers crossed.

What more interesting question would you have asked then? And why didn't you?

Firstly apologies to you as it appears i came across wrongly . I was not saying the questions were not interesting or valid and actually would have liked more of the same . i just felt that each one was preceded by an unnecessarily long preamble which cut into the time available and , reading this thread through , i do not think i was alone in that respect .
To answer your question i would have asked if they had tried seating a few larger proportioned people in a pilot area of the squashed up seats before enacting over the whole stadium and i did not ask that as i was not there .( but i think you already knew that ! )

He is a free agent next year I believe. Huge incentive to earn himself a new lucrative contract (elsewhere of course) by banging in some goals for us. NSC has a huge downer on this guy in general, he’s been pretty average for us so far but not nearly as bad as some like to make out. Like AJ, I think he has a specific position that does not involve too much defending, he might get a chance in the cup or if injures overcome our forwards.

Too much of the preamble you hate in that question of yours. Just cut it down to... "Mr Barber, what are you doing for fatty fans?"

As far as getting up to speed is concerned, Mr Potter explained that Locadia is only MLS fit and not Premier League fit (in terms of physical fitness). He confirmed he has talent and now needs to knuckle down and work hard.

I've just watched it, the women that said "I'm so sorry I have to leave 5 minutes before the end of the game with everyone else and I never get to say thank you for such a brilliant game, so thank you" FFS

Mmm. I was surprised to see her appear at the mike again when others were still waiting and I cringed back in to my seat with embarrassment when she wasted the moment.

Making the catering hugely expensive and only available to those willing to queue for half an hour?

Particularly as she'd said earlier, "My husband and I are lucky; we don't live far away" Why the need to get away early then?
