Would Fabian Hurzeler be a good replacement for RDZ?

Of course I have absolute faith in Fabian Hürzeler but didn’t expect him to start the season on the front foot coming straight from a Bundesliga 2 side with only 18 months in the top job - I was expecting a few months at least to get acclimatised to the EPL but I think he’s show great flexibility and a willingness to depart from a system that he built around players at his disposal at St Pauli to one that worked for us today.

Not sure of his reasoning for not putting Hinsh on the right but I suspect he’s still tweaking the squad. The direct attacking football was very much Hürzeler and the right tactic today against Dyche-ball. Still needs tweaking at the back but if we score goals this season at the rate St Pauli were scoring last season we are in very good hands.

Good goal difference to start the season on:

Hinshelwood on the right possibly because Harrison is so dangerous cutting in from that wing? Didn't work too well in the first half. Can see why he didn't throw Barco into that bear pit though against a Dyche side.

What a moment for him! Went for it at the end and his subs won us that game!

Love him already!
Brilliant tactical nous from Fabulous Fabi.

Defend better, attack, attack and attack again.

Great news is Fab will probably earn us millions this season from the extra TV coverage we‘ll probably get from MSM keen to follow the story of the youngest ever permanent Manager ever in the EPL who’s winning matches.

:bloom:

@Bozza please update the emojis so we have one for Hürzeler (and dump the RDZ ones)

Do you think he'll give the players another 2 days off after today's game? Come back Tuesday at 6pm ready for the Crawley game 😜

I could see him opting for a formation similar to Pep's 3-2-4-1.

Brighton are stacked in attack. It's the best way to fit as many attacking players in as possible.

Welbeck/Ferguson

Mitoma/Enciso------J.Pedro/Rutter-----O'Riley/Gruda------Minteh/Adingra

Wieffer/Gilmour-----Baleba/Milner

Estupiñán/Igor-------Dunk/Webster-----van Hecke/Veltman

Verbruggen/Steele

It's a massive squad at present. Hinshelwood, Lamptey, March, Yalcouyé, Moder, Ayari and Sarmiento also. Maybe Kadıoğlu as well.

A few of these need to go on loan or might even need to be sold.

Pre-season friendlies, two EPL matches and a cup
match, every game won comfortably so far.

Get the feeling Hürzeler fielded a load of players tonight that he wanted to assess for fitness and first-team, EPL potential. Players like Sarmiento and Lamptey, Samuels, Mahoney etc all Potential loan candidates or sales.

It’s easy to focus on the idea of squad strengthening as something that happens over the summer with half a dozen new signings but I find it too easy to forget sometimes that we have just as many youngsters on the first team pathway that buying in a players is just part of the overall squad building process. Good that Hurzeler has bought the kids on so early in his acclimatisation to the role perhaps?

Sarmiento was the only ‘on trial’ player that shone for me tonight really.

Just FYI @Zeberdi - it is O'Mahony. Let's give our young goalscorer the respect he deserves by spelling his name correctly.

Fiveways
Crawley Manager Scott Lyndsey on Hürzeler ahead of Carabao cup tie:

“He’s a really nice guy and obviously very knowledgeable tactically, very astute.

“Watching his team play, you Don't beat Everton and Manchester United in your first two games, if you don't know what you're doing.”

Andrew Crofts also shared his analysis of Scott Lyndsey with the Crawley manager on the final whistle

How kind of you to take the trouble but FYI - There’s better ways of pointing out other people’s spelling of player’s names without accusing them of disrespecting specific players..

It is nothing to do with disrespect - more to do problems I have with fatigue and brain fog at the moment.. I complemented O’Mahoney on the match thread tonight after his goal in a post specifically quoting one of your posts in a very friendly manner but which you ignored - as you have ignored my post above other than to correct me on my spelling.

All quite telling.

Goodbye 👍
