Padders and I are setting off from Manchester at 8.30, hopefully the journey will be more fulfilling than on Boxing Day.

As it’s pay on the gate and who knows how many will turn up then how do they establish how many have gone through the turnstiles. By looking at the ground then the turnstiles can’t be up to date, electronic tagging whereas every gate has the overall people that has entered and they stop letting people in or do they say, bloody hell, the terrace looks like 2,000 in not 1,000.

Any ideas how these old turnstiles operate?

I remember back at Brentford back in the early 90’s when around 60 of us jumped the turnstiles as they said it’s nearly full.
