So! If the constitution hadn't changed the club could have been wound up and the money pocketed by Archer and his cohorts. Once the FA forced them to change it back they could not pocket the proceeds so it was in their interests to get out, which thankfully they did.

Far too much over-simplifying. All being told about the Articles of Association did was stop them making money out of winding the club up. It had nothing to do with any dealings involved in selling the ground - something the eventually did anyway.

Don't get me wrong, DK was head of the consortium and there isn't a genuine Brighton fan that doesn't thank him for that. But there is no way of knowing whether someone else would have come in if DK hadn't taken the initiative.

Yes there is. By simple virtue of the fact that no-one did. Or at least no-one followed up on any initial enquiries.

Not really I would just rather see him take a back seat at the right time, than cling on to power and go when he is forced out.

He deserves to walk out at Falmer with his head held high. Moving to the president role now does not stop that.

Who says he is 'clinging on to power'? Who is 'forcing him out'?

And please don't say 'if what we're hearing is true...' That is clinging on to tittle-tattle.

We've heard one rumour, and it's grown several legs, and we're now 18 steps down the line - Dick is now evidently in a retirement home with a purely ceremonial 'Life President' (whatever that is) chain dangling round his neck, Tony Bloom has fired everyone and got Dennis Wise and Barry Lloyd running the place and Gary Stevens is Karen Brady, and we've been re-named Brighton & Hove Casino.

Don't know about you, but I'm going to wait until any story breaks before I feel I can actively discuss it, until then this is little more than idle speculation.

Apparently The Blooms are actively looking for a replacement..just depends on who wants to be a puppet I guess.

As an aside - what would being 'Life President' entail?

Somewhere to put someone who has no place in being influential at the club? A purely ceremonial title to bestow on someone before being put out to the Knacker's Yard?

and is the role for life, or for the lifetime of the role ??

Is the Knightmare over? we should be be told without delay so that the new man/men are able to make the necessary arrangements to make the new season start the way we have wanted for at least the last three years, a light at the end of a long and gloomy tunnel, lets hope so

I don't normally rear up at other people's posts on here, but why is he a a 'knightmare'?

I can only guess you weren't around when DK saved OUR club from oblivion, and if you were, would love to discuss this more with you, and why you think that.

I'm not saying that if he is going, things shouldn't happen quickly, just wonder why you seem to be anti DK by calling it a 'Knighmare'

I think some of the fans who weren't there have no idea just how DIRE our situation was before DK stepped in.
Amen to that.

That night we lost to darlo to put us 12 points behind at the bottom of the league is a million miles away from the point DK has brought us to. I remember trying to storm the west stand that night, followed by the east, I can't recall that ever happening at The withdean. It almost seems like some kind of bad dream.
