Greens win seat in Withdean from Tories. Goldsmid looking good for THREE more Greens. Add in the almost guaranteed three from St Peter's and North Laine and that's now TWENTY Green councillors.

This is EXCITING

You need to get out more!

Brighton and Hove is a LEFT WING city and no place for the blue snobs. This election proves it.

indeed it has historically been one of britains great socialist hotbeds like its peers glasgow liverpool or manchester over the years, the tories have never had a look in.

I'd like to see it, I'm not saying it's going to happen though.

Bt the results so far have been very good for the lefties and very bad for the HoveBorn&Bred's!

So what do you think a Green led council would have said to Dick Knight and Martin Perry in 1998/98. f*** Off I expect!

Just as the Scots rejected the Lib Dems and shunned the Big Two in favour of the SNP I can see a similar switch from Lib Dems to Green / UKIP across a lot of the UK.

You wonder what sort of monster the Tories and Right-Wing media might have created by making the Lib Dems take the shit in Year 1 of coalition, because in doing so they've given the Greens and UKIP a foothold.

I believe the Lib Dem vote WILL recover; they've been on the ropes before and come back, but will we now see the minority parties gaining a significant share of the vote on an ongoing basis?

I also wonder if Europe will come back on the agenda again. The Tories have lost votes to UKIP and a switch to an anti-Europe agenda could by the Tories could simultaneously win those lost votes back AND be a big populist move, particularly with the various bailouts going on at the moment.

Interesting. Labour have the most votes but the least seats!

If ever there was an argument against FPTP!

I stand to be corrected on this but I believe that the only councillor voting against the new stadium plan was a Tory one. But I'm going on memory and I could have got this wrong - I'm sure Ed or Alan could put me right on the history.

Three Greens for Goldsmid CONFIRMED.

THREE Greens for Preston Park, ousting two Labour councillors

BAMMO!!

So come on then Squid Kid what proposals or polices of the local Green Party candidates excite you so much? Or are you much like many Green voters 'its trendy, alternative and oh so trendy'. Or will that dreadlocked bird down the pub like you more if you vote green.

I'm pretty sure they were opposed to Falmer, but I stand to be corrected.

Looking to the future, my concern is where will they stand should we try to increase capacity?
