You win some you lose some...move on. No need to think any further than that.

Next.

Well in the game 0-1 , all over at 0-2

Burn and Bernardo not the level . Steele won’t trouble Ryan .

AJ not sure still against better opposition

Mac did well then faded

Trossard decent

Veltman - didn’t think looked good at all

Is what it is . Everton next . See what we learn

Conceding a fair few .

Need strikers but we know that

Only saw second half. It’s a cup, half our second team etc but I took away Bernardo is out fo form and woeful, and McAllister vying for that also. Hehe clearly need time to adjust. Trossard is class.

Over 50% of you on here are laughably pathetic. Potter and Ashworth are the two best things to happen to this club since Bloom. A League cup result (b side vs b side) doesn’t change that.

Agree with most but thought Veltman had a good game!

I don't get it. Manchester United reserves are better than Brighton reserves? Surely that's not a shock to anybody. Or were some people starting to think we're a bit better than we are?

A word of warning to those who might be getting a bit carried away:

We will finish somewhere between 14th and 16th this season - that's our level.
We won't be signing that £20m 20 goal a season striker that some people still think is coming.
We'll loose more games than we'll win.
We'll draw more games than we win.
We will probably go out of the FA Cup in the fifth round.

Prepare yourselves for that and anything else is a bonus. The club might be making murmurs of 'being a top ten club', but it won't be happening this season or the next so don't kid yourselves.

If we don’t get a decent striker Bloom is taking a HUGE gamble on relegation. I can’t believe he’d be that negligent.

So, what did Potter learn tonight?

Defence at set pieces is so poor.
Jahanbakhsh played well.
Bernardo has played his last match.
Our offensive set pieces need a complete overhaul.

Agree with all of that, and would add:

Mac Allister can add something and ready to step into the first 11 when needed.
Molumby, another youngster ready to compete for PL football and, like Alzate, completely unfazed by quality opposition.
Viktor Gyökeres is not going to trouble PL defences at the moment, time for that Championship loan.
Bernardo has played his last match (duplicated for emphasis).

Hughton made the Amex a fortress. Potter’s Amex record is shocking!!

Yeah that fortress was so strong in those games at home to Bournemouth and Cardiff wasn’t it?

And this was a reserve game in a meaningless competition against one of the most expensively assembled squads in the world.

If you can’t see how much we’ve improved under Potter then there’s no hope.

Game of opinions: Burn great, Veltman class and AliJ (who looked like he couldn’t play football) very threatening

I make it 6/6 decent performances and lovely flowing football at times this season. It’s been great. I will keep my opinions amongst the usual negative dullards who can’t take out 2nd team losing to Manchester ****ing Utd having dominated them in the proper game Sat, don’t you worry.

You know this isn’t exactly the 1st team, right?

And let’s hope some of them never make the 1st team .Argie needs to go out on loan and we need to sell Bernardo .

Let hope Ali isn’t too badly injured as he is the only one that can make his way into the first team .

Roll on Everton Saturday

I can take getting beat when the ref is not biased. Absolutely no complaints tonight, quality of United finishing was too much for us, as was the quality of their keeper keeping them in the game at 0-1

We were in the game at 0-1 and I am loving watching us play Potterball rather than Hughtonball. I’d rather lose 0-3 under GP than 0-1 under CH

In Veltman defence he is no LWB and widely acknowledged a better CB than LB.

I used to think he had pace to burn, but Manure players are winning foot races against him tonight, even when he has a head start.

Wonder if the club will look to strengthen the LWB position in the next 5 days?

He looked like he had lost the desire tonight. So slow and poor control. Looked better when not left wing back
