Following on from the BINFEST of Keith Floyd's passing, are there any shows either past or present you can be doing with or feel you have learned something from, or just plain enjoy watching?

Anything with HFW. His 'Meat' book is superb too, a decent book to own rather than some stocking filler.

Nestling in green nowhere
I quite like "come dine with me" not for the cooking though, for the backstabbing

HFW and Rick Stein are by far the best cooks at the moment, and Nigel Slater's ok. Anthony Bourdain is fantastic in a different way but hasn't done much recently, there's not a lot of great cookery shows anymore just a lot of "food porn" as it's called.

i'd go with that. slater is a much better writer than presenter, as is alastair little. jamie oliver is surprisingly talented i'd say.

Big fan of HFW. Also Heston Blumenthal but more because of the weird science shit he does.

i wouldn't go as far as that. friends of mine that live near him say that he's regarded as a bit of a lothario by the locals, a bit of a saddo

How can a lothario be a saddo?

Back to original question...

Yes-anything with Ching-He Huang in (she's a girl, not an item on Ming's menu) because TV needs more chinese female cooks.

and

The Thai Way

and

My Greek Kitchen.

Ditto. Blumenthal is fascinating to watch but it's not really cookery.

I like the guy who did the seasonal cooking that ended a few weeks ago - Valentine something (even if does look a bit like Tony Towner's Fridge). And I quite like Rick Stein too.

I really dislike any cookery programme that ends with 'guests' coming round for a fake dinner party. They always look like they're just itching to discuss house prices and what part of Tuscany they're going to holiday in... a lot of cookery programmes end that way.
